BTW Joolz, I believe there are 7 sundials beauce the pinnacle that supports the 6 dials is the gnomon for the 7th that becomes clear when you look for the original placements of the bollards around the circle.

My fave segment in this video was his visit to Pineapple studio. I love how people can go to not only get exercise in but do it while learning the choreography from popular videos. Myself, I would so love to learn the moves from the Bruno Mars "Uptown Funk" video but I don't believe Socal has that kind of business,

Your Guides are getting better and better and better. I love that Streets of London song. Written 50 years ago and every word as true today. What I appreciate about your area tours are they are so multi-layered. You're not just showing us architecture and relating history but you're revealing aspects of contemporary life too and with your own memories as well it's superb. I now want to go there and spend a day wandering around seeing all those places. Maybe I will in the summer.

Next time I visit London, I will explore the 7 Dials area! As a newly-raised Mason, I visited Freemasons' Hall during my gap year - and made it a point to sign the guest register. The docent discreetly watched me, then slipped around to read what I had written. When he saw that I was a member of a Texas lodge, he introduced himself to me - and asked if I would like to attend a meeting. Thanks for the memory Joolz... 🌷

I'm from the U.S. but used to have a flat on Neal st. in the 80's. I would push out my shutters and listen to all the people walking up and down the street..also, loved listening to it rain (miss that). Used to eat at "Food for Thought" (very good) and get cheeses from Neal's Yard. There used to be a millinery on one side of me and a cafe on the other (and a huge lighting store across). I also took some dance classes at Pineapple Dance studio (for exercise really). Used to be a place called the Rock Garden nearby too. Looks like too many corporate stores now but glad to see Neal's Yard still there. Very much enjoyed this video..memories flooding back...

Wonderful episode! I lived in this area many years ago, and know the pubs you highlighted intimately well! One more snippet: for a long time, Freemasons Hall was the back-up location for the House of Commons, as the main room was the only one big enough in London to take the number of MPs and seat them in due manner for a session. I absolutely agree with you about Neal Street: it has lost so much of the character it had.

Cheers, Joolz! Really enjoyed revisiting the Freemason's Hall. On my first visit to London in 2018 I was sent there with the business card of the Grandmaster of Manitoba, to ensure I could gain entry and get a lapel pin for him! Of course I found I didn't need to name drop, and was treated to a wonderful tour when I told them my quest, and took back several pins for him. I stumbled on another vintage shop in Drury Lane and bought my first Fred Perry shirt there, and had a great chat with the proprietor about mods and music. Can't wait to get back to that neighbourhood again. Take care!

Fascinating fact Joolz....I got a nice surprise when you showed the ‘very picturesque Travelodge’. It’s on the site where there was a hotel in 1839 where an ancestor of mine ( by marriage ) spent a night or two with his wife and three children after travelling from Thetford before boarding a ship to New Zealand. Arrived here early in 1840 at the behest of the New Zealand Company on the ship the Oriental ...and they helped build the start of colonial NZ in Whanganui. More history in London streets than just English history!!!

Fantastic video. Wonderful Free Masons hall, sustained by members donations. It's pure theatre and charitable donations. I have a picture of my mum working in that first Sainsbury's corner shop. No longer with us she was a young girl then. The way the staff and shop were presented in the picture it is easy to see why they've been so successful. It's a shame, like so many things, that is was not preserved. Absolutely love these videos and remember as a young lad tripping around London with my cousin as 10 year olds on the tube. The whole place was simply like Aladdin's Cave to us.

Streets of London is one of my favourite song, reminds me of my father as he used to play and sing this all the time during my childhood. Good times :)
