The only positive out of Freo's season is that they improved on their 2023 record. Jumped 5 places on the ladder and a 12-10-1 record vs their 10-13 record of 2023 and a higher percentage. 50 points. But it was the inconsistency during a few games during the year that bit them in the arse. But a lot of positives going into season 2025. Big Josh Treacy with 45 goals during the season before his injury, I reckon if he can surpass that 45 goal he can be a contender for the Coleman Medal (hoping he wins its for Freo's first Coleman Medalist). Midfield is good we have good brigade with Serong, Brayshaw, Young. Backs when its healthy Draper, Cox Pearce. And forwards when its healthy enough is good with Sturt he's coming up good, Treacy and Amiss he had his problems with forward craft during the year but hopefully he can overcome them. If Walters and Fyfe should continue their careers they should switch in between WAFL only play them during home games I reckon and then when finals come up then play them.

Re the GC comments, Mac Andrew worth a mention. If his trajectory continues, will be one of the top ten players in the league in a couple of years. And Tim Kelly has been a dud. Won a B+F in a year when we hardly had anyone on the park for the whole year. Gets a lot of possessions, but turns it over a lot. Doesn’t apply defensive pressure as well. We got stiffed by The Cats, unfortunately.

I don't think Barass and Petracca are comparable. With Petracca, the trust has been destroyed between him and the club. And I can fully understand it. If your employer puts your life at risk, why would you want to work for them anymore? It's absolutely fair enough that it changes his perspective entirely. Trauma has a way of doing that. In terms of taking responsibility, he has. He said that he chose to go back on during the Kings Birthday game. But players will do that. They're not the experts. Doctors and other medical staff are there to protect players, sometimes from themselves. They put a man with a ruptured spleen back into a game, putting his life at risk. Petracca didn't realise how serious it was until post surgery, and I'm sure he saw the toll it had taken on his family as they were told he might not make it through the surgery. At that point he probably felt let down by the doctors for not overruling him. And justifiably so.

Pickett is far too prone to suspensions. He’s had at least 2 suspensions each year for the last couple of years. The risk of him being not a consistently available player is too high, even if those suspensions were warranted or not it’s just not worth it. Sure he’s had great seasons, I do believe his form has dipped a bit though. I’d take Bolton over Pickett.

It's pretty obvious that the foundation of awarding a school report card ! Is that the top 4 are 'A' next four 'B' then the next 5 'C' and bottom 5 'D'. Then you debate whether they get a plus or a minus! 😮

schoey's comments about petracca at 8:45 are spot on signed that deal a couple years ago and has allowed this internal stuff to happen as a leader of the club. knowing you are there long term wouldn't you try straighten out the issues? Feels like a lot of finger pointing and no accountability at Melbourne

I agree yes theres the truth with the injury side, that they didnt handle it that well. The medical staff but otherwise agree on the "other issues", they seemed to back in that things would improve. With the culture, but yeah not sure it has

Sydney weren't a high pressure playing team in 2022 Demolished in 2022 GF. They were number 1 overall in 2024. GWS number 1 in the last few weeks. Freo got to 12th during last few weeks and I saw 18th overall. Not sure if that's right.

I'm confused with Barass wanting to leave if it's 'for money' . He's always come across a more progressive and 'the journey' spiritual kind of person with high values. For him to want leave it must be on a and for a more principled reason. For me it's more an indictment on WC mgt and board.

Freo bought their best high pressure ratings earlier in the season. They didn't bring it in the last 4 weeks and got beaten in pressure ratings in all 4 games. Could have been timed better. Sydney number 1.

Go very easy on freo compared to Essendon, without Goldstein and heppell essendon are the same age as freo
