@@Pearl1010 From what i remember seeing on tiktok. Ppl were complaining about a piece sam drew of a little girl and a man (from a film i think but cant remember which). The girl had the same face style as his usual OC's art style but the man was drawn similar to the actor who plays that character. Ppl were upset that sam changed the girl but not the man, to which he replied that he just likes drawing female faces like that because thats what he (sam) likes to see. Some ppl thought that was a weird response, especially saying why would he draw a little girl as what he likes to see (purposely trying to make it sound creepy). But imo theres 0 link there and no hidden meaning. Should just leave everyone to draw however they want.

To anyone wondering about that grid for compositions: It is a pattern in which the lines cross at points like the golden ratio or exactly onle third, a third of that third and so on. These points are useful for composing because these distances of focus points (like the lips or eyes) look the most pleasing to the eye. Which is also why you encounter them in all kins of art like still life, sculptures, abstract art and so on.

finding your style being a cycle is so true, I remember panicking when I was twelve because I couldn't draw anything other than stick-figs and fanart [stylised like the show] but I continued to develop based on that itself, just drawing is enough and one day you'll get there :))

Honestly one of the hardest things about trying to grow an audience for me is that when I post something (whether it's on KZbin, Facebook, or Instagram and tiktok) that I'm really proud of and it doesn't get much interaction, I get very discouraged and just lose motivation to post. I use a very similar grid to the one shown in that tip for compositions. It can take a bit to get your head around it (since it is a levelled up version of the rule of thirds). But once I did understand it, it massively helped me improve my artwork. I find the guides are so useful towards suggesting various possible composition ideas and also highlighting why my picture might not be working. It is the one art tip I wish I had learnt much earlier.

Regarding the negative space clip, I kinda do something similar. It was recommended to me by LavenderTowne, another YT artist! She recommended drawing the silhouette of the hand, then adding in the lines of the separate fingers. It's very helpful, and keeps my fingers from looking too spread out.
