AMAZING song! Portugal always bringing innovation to the Eurovision Song Contest with their songs. If you have a good ear and know a little about traditional European music, you can hear their sounds and beats there very well. They are wonderfully integrated in the music. I would say that anybody with high understanding of music, voice and perfomance knows immediately that this is a very good song, with great lyrics, and an extraordinary performance. Your review is smartly well done! I enjoyed watching it!

Portugal has been one of my favorite ESC countries also, since I saw Sobral in ESC and then in concert. Mimcat is very talented and the song is quality. But I am still a bit sad - I wanted Edmundo! He and Charlie Brown (not the best song for ESC) were my big favorites. Maybe it's easier for Mimicat to qualify. But for me, I like these dreamy & tender, nostalgic "sad" songs Portugal so often bring. MARO is one of my all time favorites. Most people wanted something more fun, and I am of course happy for you and all Mimicat lovers. My irritation is more a result of almost all my favorites coming second in different national finals this year.

Few years ago I wasn't so excited for Salvador Sobral, I though that it was too melancholic for ESC. He won and I celebrated. This year I'm super excited because this song is very cheerful, she is amazingly talented and for me, it is already a winner. It is important to get to the final but I'm already very happy because we're very well represented... and in our language, which is really important ❤💚

"Ai Coração" is not simply a song about an unspoken passion; we can equally interpret it as a song about anxiety and depression; and against that nothing like merrily singing and dancing. Interpreted like this, the result is a hymn to joy!

The closing date of national finals was a joy because we got the One from the North and this amazing and well performed song/act too. Portugal plays at their own way and I love it! They have taught us to vote for organic music, the ones made with heart and soul, and they keep on that track! I think they have the chance to get into the final. It's a 9/10 for me. Portugal was 6th in televoting, last time. Top18 for me, but it could be higher

Portugal is one of my favourite countries at ESC. Telemoveis is one of my all time favourite eurovision songs. Bandua and Edmundo were my favourites this year but I really like Mimicat. She has a confident stage presence. I really like the song. I mean lyrically it's very interesting..obviously, it's Porugal. They don't half a** their lyrics. I like how the performance portrays the 'madness' of the lyrics...I see the dancers as a reflection of the all the crazyness that she feels in her heart and in her mind. There is a restlesness to the song which I like. Really like the vaudeville/burlesque element of the staging..it suits the song very well. Her voice is very good. I agree with you, the Portuguese have this unique quality of sounding joyous and melancholy at the same time. I love this. I have absolutely no idea how to rate this for Eurovison because Portugal just does their own thing and it can be hit or miss. I am hoping for a qualification at the very least..and a top 15 end result at the very best. We are going to lose some darlings in that semi...makes me sad already.

Yes that is a great observation. Restlessness is what I should have said instead of repeating "energy" like seven times 😅... Hope next year I will be better with that. I kind of hope that some in semi1 will be car crashed with their performances because I have no idea whom to exclude here (not really hoping that but at least it would make things easier)

@@eurovisionhistories I have a bad feeling about The Netherlands qualifying. I would not really mind..but at the same time watching a final without your own country in it is slightly less fun. I think it comes down to staging like you said. If they screw it up then it's easier to let go of them.

this music is more complex than the people think. The mix of different sounds and styles crosses borders and cultures. There is portugal, spain, france, romanesque, balkans, cabarett, burlesque, but well mixed without looking like it's made with a hammer. and mimicat has a charisma..

This is one the rare moments these NF season when my favourite won. I have nearly the same prediction here. Would get more generous with top 15 than top 20 in the final. By the way, isn't the contrast in last 2 national selections amazing? Two completely opposite approaches: one with ESC in mind and dominated by pop music in English and the other local music scene oriented with ESC journey as a nice "bonus". This was an amazing NF season with great heights and deep lows. With surprising results and very predictable ones. This is only the second time where I followed almost all national finals. It was tiring sometimes but overall interesting experience.

For your lyrics translation which is imperfect = 💥💥/💥💥💥💥💥 According to me, this piece of music looks much more like traditional classical music to be played on piano as Portugal has always had a traditional classical music since ever and MIMICAT learned piano. She wrote the lyrics and usually she sings in english. I do appreciate the show and i am very fond of listening to the piano interpretation of this melody by PANO. ❤ The song deals with heart feelings which prevent us from being ourselves when in love.
