Love he dress you are wearing…. In the 1950’s, costumes were sometimes made of crepe paper… my mother made Zorro, pirate and the classic Red Riding hood. Not sure what patterns she used because I was only 5. I made Clown, Batman and Robin, and adorable witch for my kids. Who knows where those patterns are now. In the 90’s I made Star Trek costumes and ghost costumes…. Will check and see if I can find those patterns or maybe I gave the patterns away….. I made the poodle skirt and the Dorothy costume for my daughter… she won first prize for that… I cans still remember gluing red sparkly stretch fabric over sneakers for ruby slippers…. This video has taken me right down memory lane… Thanks so much!

My brother was an Ewok for Halloween once (we were 4-5 yrs old?). Then he got to wear it again when there was a "UFO" float for the local parade. Luckily with his sensory troubles he didn't have a full face mask, just cap with ears and velcro chin strap. It was only beat in awesomeness by my Tigger costume made from the 70's faux-fur tiger print curtains that came with the the house we moved into that year. (Everything was original in that house. EVERYTHING. It was 2001 or so.)

Oh a Pierrette! What a beautifull one. It's the feminine side of a Pierrot, a pantomime in the comedia del'arte. Their distinctive signs are: two colors costumes, pompons in the frony and the hat, a litttle round cask, a white face and a tears on the face.

ET also partially terrorized me as a child! Glad to hear I’m not the only one! The only thing that’s making it better as an adult is that my son (who had never heard of ET before,) saw the signs for the parking deck at Universal and asked why they had a ‘long necked pug’ on the sign. ET will now forever be known as the long necked pug. My childhood nightmares are finally fading!

The fish costume is kind of brilliant. They also made that pattern as a cat bed. Which is adorable. Or it might have been, had we been able to complete it. It’s near impossible to make because of an error in the thickness of the foam they tell you to use for part of it, and by the time that becomes apparent, there’s not much to be done about it.
