It's Wifey Wednesday! Time to do some work on the Renault/VW Beetle project. In this round, I build custom body mountings to create a more permanent union between the two. :)

Hey Div, glad to hear the Big Hud is coming back, I've just spent days having a "binge" of all your Hud build vids, such a technical smorgasbord, so compelling. And as for Wifey's Renobug, well 40 year ago we had a '69 Renault 10 sedan that was known as "Regina, "Regina Renault" had her for many years. Also owned, before that a '59 VW beetle sedan, I called "Wolfgang". I figure that the VW is the male and the Renault is "petite" little French girl, Regina Renault. Indeed they "eloped" and came to South Africa to be married, by none other than Pastor Div! Cheers mate.

Hi Diff nice work ! Do you plan on putting at least one body mount centered on each side ? For added strength I'd consider it if I were you. Better to be safe than sorry !

2 in front, 2 in back. There is a strong substructure member in between, we will be good

I would run a angled stiffener at the rear corner that connects the two plates and each side of the body together, but 4 mm thick. I would hold that back corner really stiff.

In the last video You said You were going to have to put fender flares o Your Little Yellow car. Look at the rear fenders on a VW Beetle, You can split the fender down the middle to the width You need to cover the tires. We did that a lot on Muscle cars back in the Day. Just a thought. Joe : )

You will have to remove body to work on the spring plate bushings but thats not too hard at all. Tough job on a stock beetle. Thank you
