"It's almost the nineties..." Man, if they knew what was about to happen to metal.

Thanks to nirvana, pearl jam, jane's addiction, and all the other boring grunge fad
@lrn_news91713 жыл бұрын
@@heatherratliff1813 I think what killed metal wasn't grunge, it's the fact that metal no longer got any airplay or promotion by the labels and were dropped. They jumped on the new fad. Firehouse's second album was in 1992 and it was certified gold, and went #23 on the billboard 200 Def Leppard's adrenalize went #1 in 1992. It's not because people did not enjoy metal anymore, it's because the media and labels abandoned them.
@johnc16662 жыл бұрын
@@lrn_news9171 you nailed it on the head, but we could feel in the air that we needed something new and fresh back then, because they milked the hard rock hair metal thing too much. I think the 80's burnt a lot of people up! But it was the best by far.
@neuregel2 жыл бұрын
@@lrn_news9171 there was plenty of room for 80's metal, glam, grunge, alternative and rap. but heavy metal albums like reach for the sky, empire, ceremony, lock up the wolves and no prayer for the dying and others were all just terrible albums. look how cocky steven is presenting the album. way cool jr would have been the worse song on out of the cellar
@rjc72892 жыл бұрын
I think they got an idea of what was to come when Guns N' Roses released their first album 1 year prior. It was way different than anything else coming out of the Sunset Strip, including Ratt. It was definitely a signpost that the scene was about to morph into something different.

I was working as a bouncer at the Wiltern Theater when Ratt played with Extreme. There was this older groupie I was talking to, and she seemed to be pretty up to date with Ratt, and she said both Steven Pearcy and Steve Perry of Journey were Portuguese. How she knew this info, I have no idea. But I wouldn't be surprised.

Wasn't a fan until point break came out. Ratt stole the movie with nobody rides for free a killer track. Then a second look at what I missed with Ratt the struggles of being hard fighting fringe band really won me over they fought to hang in there. I just didn't see it at first I really missed out. Its good to see them promoting music and surviving it all God Bless them. R.I.P Robbin King Crosby a music hero just like the rest of the band.
