I can't help but wonder if there's a little more meta symbolism to the shot of Riptail and Cutlass proudly watching the main trio run towards the horizon--I'm aware those two were the early roleplay characters that got you creating deer characters in the first place. It's very moving to imagine them proudly ushering this grand new story forward from their own humble beginnings.

I'm so glad it did omfg, I love GS and have been following for several years, since just before the first arc ended. I've always thought that Runi and Nero were equal main characters, or even that Runi was the main character and Nero was her driving force, until Nero was visited by Karuna (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name LMAO, it was corona then COVID came and now I'm sitting here going FUCK ITS KARUNA NOW RIGHT? After finally reading the comic, the AMV has so much more emotional weight to it with the added context of the comic. Like Nero said, Runi always had a drive for adventure and it’s demonstrated beautifully in the AMV. Dorus cares deeply for his children and it’s great to see that more fleshed out. Dorus taking Runi down from the high rock is so sweet. This AMV is amazing and I hope we see more AMVs that focus on other characters perspectives.

WAAAAAAH RATT THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! i loved seeing everything in this runi, especially with the shot of little her on the rock with her parents trying to get her to come down. it really seemed like she wanted to stay more than she wanted to go, being so high up. its such a nice little thing that really has me thinking shes been wanting to be free for so long, but her herd has always discouraged this kind of thinking (especially the example with nero and the sire). amazing art as always, thank you so much for sharing this with us!

The story is so well crafted, and creates such a strong emotional impact despite having no spoken or written dialogue. It's a webcomic actually!! Check the description for the links, you won't be disappointed at all. This animatic was incredible to me as a comic-reader already, you didn't need any knowledge of the comic to follow it but the comic gives SO MUCH context to this (and honestly vice versa, we don't see much of Runi's thoughts written [or sung lol] out, it's all written on her face until she starts changing/getting some heavy development).

I first watched this video when it had just come out, I think. This last winter, on a bitter cold night waiting for a bus, I read the whole comic in one sitting and fell in love. I remembered the PMV just today, rewatched it, and now it's got me in tears. It's really, really beautiful. I fell in love with Runi's character ages ago and I feel like I love her even more now. The video and song so perfectly fit her thoughtful, philosophical character. I also loved the way you transformed the song. I have it in my playlists because it's beautiful, but I listen to it very rarely because its topic of life and leaving it after a long, happy lifetime always make me cry. Now I'm crying for a different reason-- she's leaving life behind and springing into a new one full of adventure, where she can see the world and find her destiny. I can't wait to see where her journey leads her next. I sure hope it's somewhere happy.

Wow! Really nice! yeaaars ago back in earlier youtube days there would be so many Disney 'bambi' music/video edits. (so often things like Linkin park numb/or emo stuff). I joined in and made afew of potato quality and I loved seeing what other's were doing. Seeing this is amazing because it holds the same place emotionally but with the beautifully stunning animation, colours and style worked in. Honestly, I'm not surprised this has had so many genuinely amazed comments. I think you should be really proud of how it's turned out and the editing is also spot time-wise. I think it's very successful too because I felt like it drew me in to the story and I suddenly realised that my anxious thinking was lifted away from me as I became absorbed as a viewer which I'm extremely grateful for as my anxiety has just been getting to me so badly this week just a tiny break like this is like a breath of fresh air. Just binge read everything. For once I can truthfully say that I cried through at least one part of this. And don't take that lightly. There's few books or comics in the world that have ever managed to make me absorbed enough to provoke much emotion, I held my breath looking through those panels. Ngl, and this is going to sound cheesy af, but I feel like I was meant to find this. I finally reconnected with my brother who I haven't spoken to in a long time and able to show him I was able to break free of their influence. I feel like, after a little awkwardness we connected amazingly and I am still in awe of how much I grew up to be like him, even tho we were thousands of miles apart with no contact. I think of him, and worry about him, all the time, and when she ran off with her brother, I felt like that was me, finally being able to meet my brother as a full person, free from stuff holding me back. beautiful and incredibly inspiring. . ive never been the best at drawing cervids, so if its alright with you, i might reference this video and your comic to teach myself because i absolutely adore the way you've drawn these characters. every single pose feels so elegant and natural. and the designs are all so unique and full of character despite their simplicity.. ugh 😭 you've earned a sub and a new reader.

I'm so pleased to have found the webcomic through this video. It had me so curious, it was extremely satisfying to get to see it fleshed out. I'm sure for most people it was the opposite, the webcomic first then the video but I'm honestly happy I started the journey this way.
