All the sisters learned to play piano at very early ages. Pau was essentially baring her soul here. This is not just some well-written ballad -- she wrote it about and for herself, voicing a difficult struggle she was having. She knew it would hit hard which is why she said she would never perform it live. Yet perform it she did out of love for those 8000 people who came to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band. In fact her last remark translates to "I love you very much". The audience helped her finish the song when it became clear she couldn't. I'm guessing part of the reason Pau cried is she could feel the love for her from that crowd.

She says she is very sick and her voice isnt very well. Its song that she said she would never do live because its too personal. 8000 people came to see them so she wanted to sing it for them. What a wonderful voice. You need to go back one song in the show and play Black Holes. Another on the piano but with orchestra. Also check out "Revenant" from the Teatro Metropolitan show.

Pau playing *Breathe* right after *Black Holes* here in Mexico City was a monstrous surprise to everyone watching... there were a lot more than 8000 pairs of eyes overflowing from that portion of the set... i fully enjoyed seeing them and only miss not actually being there... The Pepsi Center may be the only live performance ever. For the Error album, the studio requested another song. Pau had written Breathe and agreed to have it on the album if she never had to play it live. That was written into the album contract. The recorded version was not done in a studio, but with Pau playing their slightly out of tune home piano. During the album debut concert (Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHjddWeGoM10iM0), they played the album track with no one on stage. Gave me the chills. Pau sings lead on about 20% of their songs. No one "lets" Pau do anything, unless they want a song written about them. Pau writes most of their songs, starting on the piano. She wrote Animosity about a break up with a bad friend.
@iNsTaNtpUdDiNhEaDКүн бұрын
Again, neither the studio nor the label requested another song. They realized at the last minute that they needed two additional tracks for (undisclosed) "logistical" reasons.

Breathe: (to understand what Pau was saying before she started singing you needed to turn on the English subs) It been mentioned in other comments from other reactors: Their record label wanted one more song to be added to their album "ERROR" and asked Pau for her song (Breathe) she agreed with the stipulation that she will not be forced to sing this song live, it was added to their album "ERROR" as a bonus track. At Teatro Metro concert a recording of Breathe was played during a break/change over; the setting was surreal the stage was dimly lit and only a black void where the audience sat/stood...then slowly cellphone lights lit up the darkness like fireflies. Now at Pepsi Center with 8,000 in attendance Pau felt compelled to sing Breathe live as a gesture of gratitude for the love and support of the fans. Hey, I just The Warning for the first time 4 weeks ago and have listened to just about everything on their channel, watched dozens upon dozens of reactions, interviews and documentaries. There have been many explanations as to why this song is so personal but until I hear it from Pau I remain skeptical.

Did you know youtube can auto-translate the captions? "Breathe" was a bonus track on their third album, "ERROR," released in 2022. The label requested an extra song, so Pau recorded it at home on their slightly out-of-tune piano, and it was included on the album. Before performing it at the Pepsi Center, Pau said: "Ok, this next song. I said I was never going to play it live because it is a very personal song, but seeing all of you gathered here, it's incredible to think that there are 8,000 people here who came just to see us. Honestly, I’m kind of sick, and my voice isn’t in great shape, but I still want to sing this song for you."

This song is so emotional for Pau because she wrote it descriving her feelings after a friend died by suicide. The crowd has a relationship with DPA that fuses music with artestry with compositional excellence with talent with really nice, humble, hard-working, dedicated women that is reciprocated by their desire to give the audience of 8,000 the best 10th anniversary of The Warning because of their loyalty. THAT'S why, when the audience sees Pau cannot finish the song, they do it for her out of love. Not many bands or people can create such an atmosphere.

Besides being an award-winning drummer, she is the main song writer, can sing lead while drumming and has co-directed one of their music videos. I would suggest you watch (and we’ll be right there with you) Tidal Rising and Mayday in the Making (1-6), two documentaries which would help you better understand the dynamic of the sisters. When she got to the higher parts she really was stunning. 👍👍

Pau is the chief creator of the band, she will start off the writing process most of the time, and always on the piano. In this case, it stayed a piano ballad. It’s also a personal song because contrary to other deep lyrics, this one deals with her personal life. She has had panic attacks and still seems to be prone to having them. This performance is very likely to be a one-off. She had never intended to perform it. She did it finally because it was the tenth anniversary, but also very probably, to get it off her chest. The reaction of the audience says it all. This was painful, but also therapeutic for her. I don’t think there will be a repeat.

Yeah; one of the things that's frustrated me from the beginning of Google's "auto-translate" is that you have to specify what language you want it to translate _to_ , even ignoring the sometimes bizarre nature of the output. It always defaults to "translating" to the original language, which is pointless. Having a way to permanently set a desired output language would be a huge improvement, but for some reason they've never gotten around to that. Normally, when they "let Pau be Pau" and do her Mexican ballad thing, the other two chime in one way or another, even if it's just subtle guitar/bass work. But while they knew she had decided to sing this that night, it's nothing they've ever really practiced before... because it was never supposed to played live.

So, Pau has never directly said what this song is truly about, as far as I know, but the lore of this song is that Pau wrote it just for herself as a way to deal with the depression of losing a close friend. The water is the despair and depression she was battling against and losing to, feeling like she was drowning. Again, that's not coming from Pau. Dany has talked about losing a close friend, and since Dany and Pau are only a couple years apart in age, it would make sense that it could be the same friend. They needed one more song to complete their 'Error' album and Pau decided to include this as that song, with the condition that she would never have to play it live because it's so personal to her. At this concert, in front of their biggest headline audiences to date at the time (8,000) and since it was their 10th anniversary concert, she decided to play it. Probably the only time she'll ever do it, unless many years from now when they eventually get into the R&R HOF, she can be convinced to do it one more time?
@davejohnston219720 сағат бұрын
Pau has said she will never go solo. Her sisters are too important to her songwriting process. They'll do performances with other bands, but their work is a collaboration of the three of them. Even in this case where the input was likely, no it's yours. Do it your way. ❤️⚡😭⚡🤘
