The Warning is a Mexican rock band consisting of the three Villarreal sisters: Daniela (Dany, 24), Paulina (Pau, pronounced "Pow," 22), and Alejandra (Ale, pronounced "Ah-leh," 20). This video from their 10th anniversary concert at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City on October 28, 2023 Both of these songs are from "Queen of the Murder Scene," a concept album about a young woman’s descent into obsession, murder, and madness, released in 2018 when Dany was 18, Pau was 16, and Ale was 13. "Dust to Dust," the opening track and part of the prologue, introduces themes of life, death, and deception, with the protagonist warning of how quickly things can spiral. "Dull Knives (Cut Better)," the 9th track and part of Chapter 3, depicts her growing despair and self-harm as her evil side takes control, leaving her emotionally shattered and consumed by darkness.

Being introduced to The Warning with “Dust to Dust” is definitely diving into the deep end of the pool. If three sisters from Mexico playing hard rock isn’t enough, then the singing drummer will definitely bowl you over. (Although in this particular performance, Dany does a bit of a fake-out, mouthing the first line before starting to cross the stage.) Dany, the guitarist and about 80% lead vocalist, is probably the most theatrical of the three; she’s definitely a born frontwoman. She works very hard on her vocal skills, and if you continue with The Warning, you’ll hear her display those skills in songs like “Choke,” “Hell You Call a Dream,” “More,” and “Automatic Sun.” (You’ll also notice that she can actually play riffs and melodies while singing, which is extraordinarily difficult.) Pau, the drummer and the singer for “Dust to Dust”, is very much a five foot stick of dynamite. Many of The Warning’s songs start off with her on the piano, then she brings what she has to the other two and they hammer out a song. (Although “Dust to Dust” apparently started with Ale when she was all of 11 years old.) She’s also very openly emotional; there are two songs from this concert at the Pepsi Center, “Black Holes” and “Breathe,” where she’s playing alone at the piano, and she breaks into tears during the second, because it’s such a personal song. Ale, the bass player, is the cool beauty among the sisters. The youngest, but the tallest, and all of them admit that she would probably be a model if she weren’t a musician. She doesn’t sing much, but she has perfect pitch and perfect rhythm, so her bass is actually what keeps the band on time, not Pau’s drums. In fact, Pau calls her the human metronome, and admits that she needs Ale to ground her every now and then. Her fans call her the Thunder Goddess.

Great Reaction !! But I must say that I’m not surprised. It’s a mystery to me just how these girls are not a household name by now. I’ve never seen a single unbiased reactor not have a shocked opinion when first being introduced to The Warning. Their live performances are phenomenal. Their talent, stage presence, is as good as any band I’ve ever seen in my 75 years.

I'm a female rock/metal guitarist... and this band has just been magical to me. I haven't been more excited about a band in ages... and truly, even if it was a band of guys, I'd love them, but the fact that they are all women just makes it more special to me. :-) They are truly the best rock band out there right now and I wish them endless success. Hilarious! I love seeing people react to The Warning for the first time. I've never seen anyone disappointed. This is the prologue to their EPIC rock novel, *Queen of the Murder Scene,* followed by Dull Knives, the ninth track on the album. Yes, they look alike - They're sisters! They started their musical journey as little kids. If you were to go watch some of their very early videos when they were just starting out, you would know that these Mexicans were not yet little bilingual Catholic school girls when they first got into music at summer camps. Mom's a dentist. Dad's an engineer. He used to run a recording studio. The girls grew up listening to their parents' rock favorites and watching concerts on TV. The kids all learned classical piano first, then discovered Rock Band, the video game. Suddenly, they were choosing instruments. Dany started guitar lessons at eight. Pau started drum lessons at six. Ale started bass at seven, a few years later, as she's the youngest. They were a great cover band as LITTLE KIDS. But they rarely do covers anymore. (A recent exception is a BRILLIANT cover of Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know, that they did at Sirius XM.) They are as good as, or better than the bands they covered! And in most cases, they are more fun to watch. Their first two albums were crowd-funded and independently produced! Before watching any more of their music, I'd suggest you watch their two TEDx Talks on the University of Nevada channel, from way back in 2016 and 2017. Perhaps also watch The Warning: The Mexican Rock Stars Who Happen To Be Sisters [TIDAL Rising Documentary] on the TIDAL channel. Maybe watch Mayday in the Making, parts 1-6. As much as you like it now, if you know who they are, and where they come from, their music will make a lot more sense. These ladies are now 20, 22, and 24. They sold out their Spring, '24 tour, 19 dates in Europe and the UK. They came back from Japan for a stint in L.A. and the launch of their new album, Keep Me Fed, on June 28. They performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live the night before. They were on MTV Push during July. Then they went on to Europe for festivals, Pol'and'Rock and Wacken Open Air, where they played before many tens of thousands of fans.They headed on to Canada, the USA, and other places this year. Most recently, they played at the MTV EMAs in England, and at the Latin Grammys, where they were nominated for their song, Que Mas Quieres. Currently recuperating and recharging at home, they have already sold out a 10,000 seat arena in Mexico City for two dates next February. Their superpowers are LIVE performance, music COMPOSITIONAL skills, LYRICAL depth, STAGE presence and charisma, and personal integrity. Welcome to a deep, deep, 11-year-old rabbit hole.

I love watching what I call "The Warning Smile" spread across a reactor's face within _seconds_ of watching them. As others have no doubt told you, these are three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. They write and sing in English mostly because it's easier (the "Pirate Language" is much more flexible and has many more alternative synonyms that you can use in Spanish), but their Spanish songs are just as much bangers and lovely to listen to as the rest. Excellent 1st-time The Warning reaction! The Villarreal-Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE" (2018), is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD" (2017), is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND" (2015); and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track! Their 4th studio album, KEEP ME FED was released June 28th, 2024. They have released 7 singles: "MORE", "SICK", "HELL YOU CALL A DREAM", "AUTOMATIC SUN", "BURNOUT", "QUE MAS QUIERES", and "SIX FEET DEEP". The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Crazy they are 24, 22 and 20 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #57 original songs. They performed 2 songs at the 2023 MTV VMA's. Drummer Paulina writes around 75% of The Warning's songs. Most of her songs begin in rock ballad form; starting with a concept, then chord progression, melody and basic song structure on the piano. She may only have a verse and a chorus when she brings it before her sisters. Together they transpose each instrument's part and "rockify" the song. They complete any lyrics, bridges and any arranging, etc. making changes along the way. A 2/3 approval vote of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Paulina has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both guitarist Daniela and bassist Alejandra write equally great songs; just not as many. Drummer Paulina won Drumeo's 2023 Rock Drummer of the Year and won Best Up and Coming Artist in Modern Drummer Magazine's 2023 reader's poll. They performed AUTOMATIC SUN at the 2024 MTV EMA's (European) in Manchester, United Kingdom. 4 days later they performed QUE MA`S QUIERES at the 2024 LATIN GRAMMYS in Miami, Florida. Both performances highlighted songs that were nominated for an award. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California, USA. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. I met them again at Fingerprints Music in Long Beach California for a CD signing on the day their new album KEEP ME FED was released (June 28th, 2024) and the morning after they performed live on the Jimmy Kimmel show. I saw them again October 8th and 9th, 2024 in Los Angeles with a meet-n-greet on the second night. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. They really shine live: even better than their studio recordings. 🗣 Subscribed! 🤘☺️

As of today (12/22/24) Bass player just had her 20th B-Day on the 13th, Drummer is 22, Lead is 24... Great reaction from you and I'm excited to know that if you keep reacting to more of this power trio's material they will soon be your favorite band too, inevitably!! That's for sure... That's the warning!! Because as you get to know TW better you discover that their music is steeped in various rock styles but invariably it’s pure rock. And I continue to reaffirm my humble but very personal opinion that their structure, their cuts, transitions, rhythm changes, modulations, choruses, pre-choruses, drum attacks, their endings... All of it is masterful. The great beauty of their art is in its simplicity but all of this always seems to be at the right time and in the right way, bordering on perfection, with sophistication predominating. There could always be other options, but the ones they choose seem to be the exact ones to create a masterpiece of art. Also impregnating everything with a natural touch of inevitable sensuality that only adds improvements and with the feeling, sensitivity and passion of their blood, race and culture. Each of their pieces can be very different, but always with all the flavor of TW. It’s very clear that these sisters have no limits. They have that gift that only belongs to the geniuses that appear among us every certain period of time. This is the youngest veteran band in the world of rock!! Without forgetting that they are only three, yes, but three authentic geniuses in their specialization. Melodically they are the best, without a doubt, because they are the queens of the hook, the riff, the changes of tonality, the contagious rhythms, the catchy melodies, the sublime voices, the unbeatable harmonies and the ambiguous but deep and powerful messages. And this happens song after song… INCREDIBLE!! And all of the above is exponentially enhanced in each of their live performances. You Have Been WARNED !!! The Future Of ROCK from Monterrey Mexico, The Villarreal Vélez sisters: Daniela "Dany" (guitar, lead and backing vocals, piano) The Lightning riff maker. Paulina "Pau" (drums, lead and backing vocals, piano, and also songwriter for the band) Drum Bombardment from the heavens (Huge Pau Fan here). Pau won the Drumeo 2023 Rock Drummer of the Year award. Alejandra "Ale" (bass guitar, piano, backing vocals) Thunder Goddess. She plays a Spector 5 string that she helped design, it's called Ale's Inferno. She also has a blue Spector 5-string...fire and ice. Ale's been playing Spector since age 13, and signed with Spector at 15. The Villarreal Vélez sisters were raised in Monterrey, and all received training on various instruments at an early age. At some point in their childhood, Daniela and Paulina had selected guitar and drums as their primary instruments, respectively. When the youngest of the three, Alejandra, selected bass guitar as her primary instrument at about age 7, the sisters decided to form a rock power trio in 2013. They learned to play rock songs, often via the Rock Band video game series, and posted videos of their performances to KZbin. In 2014, 12-year-old Paulina was profiled in the women's drumming publication Tom Tom Magazine. The band first gained widespread notice later in 2014 when, at ages 9 through 14, their KZbin video in which they performed Metallica's "Enter Sandman" went viral among rock music fans, eventually earning more than 20 million views. The video received attention from Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, who offered particular praise for Paulina, saying, "The drummer kicks maximum ass!" The Warning are 1 of the best bands you never heard of, no warning can prepare you for what comes next. these 2 songs are from their rock novel Queen Of The Murder Scene album and a version of Dull Knives got Lzzy Hale's attention and ended up asking TW to tour with Halestorm and later giving Dany a guitar as a surprise on stage. Dany also inspired an 11yo Quinn to play guitar to QOTMS album and now at 17yo sings and plays guitar for her band called Freeze The Fall along with 16yo Aria bass/vocals and Jonah 16yo on drums. lots of great music from The Warning and don't stop checking them out. i only mention Freeze The Fall because they are just starting out but already killing it and some of us The Warning Army have been supporting them also. there are some other young/new bands other TWA can tell you about, the TW rabbit hole is deep and wide. be good to one another and ROCK ON !!

Glad you enjoyed it. Not a lot of people seem to have heard of The Warning, yet people who have heard them rate them as totally awesome. FWIW the two songs you reacted to were from the biggest audience they've headlined for and in the their home country as well, and they really pulled out all the stops for that gig. And, a small recommendation, if you ever have the opportunity to see them live: take it. They really do have a special energy to their live performances.

@@kshavon3098 A common practice with Enter Sandman is to listen to three versions in one sitting: the original from 10 years ago, their version with Alessia Cara on Metallica's Blacklist album (kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6WugpqbqKiWisU) and one of the two live versions, either Teatro Metropolitan (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJicp4F7bMygZqs) or Pepsi Center (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6TXoKSsarxriK8). They completely revamped it. The Pepsi Center version is newer and I would generally recommend it, but they added a string ensemble that is not representative of their standard performance as Teatro Metropolitan is. It really shows how far they have come.
