After the accident Emilio was always thankful to his fans. He hugged and kissed almost anyone who talked to him. The man is a tejano legend and will always be remembered.

when that happened I had never prayed sooooo hard for another human being.....it was so devastating but God gave us all a miracle and blessed us all with more years with Emilio, and I was so blessed to see him perform twice after the accident in SA and Corpus (not to mention all the times seeing him prior) he was a class act ALL THE WAY and always so gracious to his fans.....XO from Texas

A lot of people won’t admit it. But the majority of us have had an alcoholic beverage and then drive. I would imagine Emilio probably had a few drinks that night…(and I don’t know the exact details about his blood level) but I’m guessing he probably did it before but this time it caught up to him. But I would guess Emilio wasn’t “drunk” stumbling all over bc then I’m sure they wouldn’t have let him drive. But it was probably just business as usual but Emilio unfortunately fell asleep. I’m sure after performing and having a few drinks that did not help and just added to his tiredness. I don’t think he was swerving…he fell asleep. But he shouldn’t have been driving whether he had a drink or not bc he did not have the proper cdl license. You think it can’t happen to you but it can. Drinking and driving can truly ruin peoples lives including innocent people. I was and still am Emilio fan. Met him and Raul to when I was 13 (40 now) and they were so nice to me and I still have my pic. I just don’t like to accuse him or criticize him and say his drunk driving hurt many people. But like I said many of us are guilty of it, and I don’t know how intoxicated he was but I’m sure Emilio knew his liquor and limits…but lot of times we don’t include being tired from performing…plus alcohol will only make you more sleepy. It was a sad and tragic accident and ending for Emilio. That accident took many years from his life. But I’m sure he would rather it had been him to have gotten hurt from the accident bc of the man he was.

Best interview I've seen. The one I saw when he was interviewed by don Francisco was plain shameful! It was obvious that Emilio was not able to answer quickly and Mr Francisco kept drilling him and almost like he was trying to shame him cause he was intoxicated. Emillios wife was there, and it looked like she tried to help him answer some of the questions, but, Emilio's memoroy didn't seem to be all there. Mr Francisco's interview was horrible and shameful.!

If Mr Fransisco had a bucket of chicken and red beans and rice he'd have some compassion for a man who ran into bad luck yet admitted to the incident so what else did Mr Fransisco had to know that he kept annoying Mr. Navaira he is a very judgemental nosy journalist not an FBI agent and interogating is not his job!🐷🐷🐽 RIP Mr. Navaira 🎸🌹🌈💞🎸🎸🙏🙏

Guadalupe Blakey...I agree with you 100% that man Don Francisco was a Savage, (to say the least!!) As if Mr. Emilio Navaira (May He Continue To Rest in Peace) didn't feel really bad, already for the accident!! I'm glad that Emilio's wife went up there to support her husband and speak on His behalf!! (Bless Her Heart!) God will deal with that man Don Francisco!! What if it had been one of his relatives, that caused an accident And under the same circumstances!?? ☹☝️🙏🦅

I was lucky enough to be raised in Alice. I was able to catch a band every weekend at the villita ballroom and crystal ballroom. I also saw Emillo at Desperados. I almost didn't go because I had quit drinking by then. I'm sure glad I did go. Good times.
