Mortiis is a completely original artist.He's able to fly over different musical fields to explore them and taking from there his artist-suplement to build it by himself as an innovative work accomplished by him. I feel that Mortiis is an unrotulable artist impossible to be ranked at a specific music genre:once that we cannot classify him in whatsoever due to his art in mutation constantly,like a butterfly in metamorphosis process.

Remember seeing him in Atlanta , headliner danzig blackest of the black. Mortiis mic wasnt working and tried singing, and kept throwing his stand out of frustration, crew ran in the stage, standing the mic stand back up, and he kept throwing it down and flipped off the guy . It was something seeing live, Mortiis only played 2 songs and left lol.

Nice dude. His ambient stuff was a good soundtrack to Hero Quest (or some other RPG long time ago). Remember somewhat liking the Smell of Rain album. Maybe I should dig that up.
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
Antero Stenhammar I think his later releases are better than his darkwave stuff. And i would pick dark ambient or movie/game soundtracks over Mortiis for rpg sessions. Just my two cents.
@anterostenhammar98876 жыл бұрын
Maybe. We only played those games for a very brief time.

And of course it's a matter of taste really. I just think the type of music I mentioned takes the atmosphere way more deeper (role-playing geek with 30+ years talking here...)

My pleasure! Well, to be honest, I'm not a biggest fan of his early material. I'm more into dark ambient than darkwave. But he's a great fella despite my musical taste or whatnot. So most likely not going to get another shot at his music this soon. I'd actually be more interested in his newer music live tbh.
@teemujaakkola31576 жыл бұрын
😋 ps. Emperor veti kyl hyvät setit tuskassa, vaikka esim. "In loning spirit" olis ollu aiheellinen setin encore puolella... mutta en valita! 🙂 ps.
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Teemu! Yep, makes very little sense to go to Mortiis sense unless one really enjoys the music they perform. Prior to Steelfest - which had a special show focued on one particular album - I gave a listen to Mortiis' latest album and that was more to my liking than those early darkwave albums. Btw. we have Emperor and Ihsahn interviews coming up from Tuska! Oh and I'm always up for chat or saying hi, no matter how crowded it can get. Unless I'm running from one interview to another or some other shit. Don't be that shy next time! Cheers!
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you dig 'em! Yeah, had to mention Vond because we were talking about that with my friends on our way to Steelfest. Not my stuff, though. Fata Morgana, I remember that name, but not sure if I ever listened to it. Gotta remember to check it out. See you around! Oh and to estimate when Emperor and Ihsahn interviews are out, I would say around late August or maybe early September.
@teemujaakkola31576 жыл бұрын
😉 haastattelitko tuskassa muita orkestereita/muita haastatteluja sieltä luvassa?
