Maurice Ravel, visiting Marocco in 1935 was very ill at that time, had said with humour : " If I could still write music, I would write Arabic music better tan the Arabs themselves " ... May be he thought he'd adapt his Bolero? In homage and admiration for him ...

Bolero was the piece Ravel did not like. When it premiered he told the conductor that it was rubbish and that he shouldn't bother with it. Yet, this is the one piece that defines Ravel, His most played music. Jazz musicians have covered it. But I think this is the best version I have heard. Good to listen to, good to dance to.

Very captivating rendition. Since Ravel composed this as an exercise in orchestration and layering of instruments, I think he would approve to using Arabic instruments to give new textures to his piece.

As I said earlier, it was very enjoyable to listen to. Maybe I should have clarified my point by saying that I missed the dynamic range from the start to the end that I am accustomed to. A "pop mix" sounds interesting and I am looking forward to hearing it now. I have subscribed to your chanel so I won't miss it. :)

@@MaestroDrion Truly delightful. It's like a musical "snack": a light alternative to a complete meal, with different flavors from what you would eat at dinner. I rarely listen to the complete work: too much repetition. You chose a good length. I also think that a big climax might be nice, but I don't know whether you can do it with these instruments. Thank you for sharing this.
