Here's an interesting fact: For every 1 American that fled to Canada it's estimated 1 Canadian came down to fight. Anyways, my uncle was one of those Canadians who came down at the ripe age of 16 to join the Marines. He lied about his age (some old lady down the street from the recruitment office signed off for young men thinking she was being patriotic) and was sent to fight. When he got to Vietnam, they had been looking for door-gunner volunteers and he figured it'd be a lot safer than being on the ground getting attacked by the VC so he took it.....They didn't tell him until afterwards door gunners only had a lifespan of 2 weeks. He only was in Vietnam for about 8 months before he got wounded and they found out he was underage and Canadian and sent him back home. The shrapnel from his wound still comes out of his hand to this day. He said his parents were, "not particularly pleased" but all his WWII veteran uncles praised him

@@SomethingSpecial. I had my grandma cousin who fought for the Marines sadly he died over there and he is still over there they never recovered his body

@@BLOODxHAVER That's sad to hear. Unfortunatly for my uncle he isn't a U.S veteran (and obviously not a Canadian one) because he also lied about his name. As far as the U.S military is concerned he was John Lee.
