I can explain why Eric brought Ariel into the palace: A random girl washes up on shore. No one knows her and she's not native to that kingdom. Sacred Hospitality comes into play and entire conflicts have started over violating it. Yes, if Ursula had washed up on shore and was in disguise with no clear indication of being dangerous, he would have had to take her in as well. He is the de facto leader of his kingdom, he represents his people. So him taking Ariel in is reasonable and logical.

In reference to your comments on point 17, during "Under the Sea" Sebastian actually warns against this fantastical way of thinking using the same analogy you used, referencing seaweed always being greener in some else's lake.
@NobodyC139 ай бұрын
Sebastian being a Jamaican crab was thought up by Howard Ashman himself (y'know, the songwriter whose ideas and creativity gave Disney the vim and vigor to enter their Renaissance, and later became a victim of the AIDS crisis but nevertheless worked on and into Beauty and the Beast until his own body started failing from the disease). Sebastian was originally going to be stuffy British butler turtle, but Ashman suggested making him a Jamaican crab because it made him stand out (both the red color palette amongst the sea and complementing Ariel's hair) and gave Ashman and his music partner Alan Menken the opportunity to mix genres and fuse calypso into the movie's thematic score.

I can ignore the faulty science of films like The Little Mermaid with no problem unless it's utterly preposterous like the Mulan live action. But I mainly focus on how well it represents the original story, The Little Mermaid does add multiple things to the story to make it more interesting like they did with Cinderella and Snow White, but it still stuck closely to the original fairytale. For the hair part it should be fairly obvious since the Mermaids are mainly a water based species their bodies will be made to deal with water her hair could be similar to that of the adorable Sea Bunny but longer, or maybe it's a completely new substance that does flow underwater. There was that snake found near Thailand that was completely covered in a moss like substance that seemed like it was flowing and not knotting up. This is just me, but when I choose to make a story with fantasy creatures I usually try to make it seem more realistic so people can connect to it better, and I'll base the fantasy civilisations off real civilisations, for my orc people I based their life style off of Norse raiders and the Spartan society which I think fits very well. But this show is still okay because it is based on the original and it does it very well. Sadly, however, Disney will likely botch the live action since, like the Mulan live action (and sadly cartoon, still good show though) will focus less on the original story and just try to fit a narrative (Really why a Hawaiian girl for a story that takes place in 13th century Europe).

What are your thoughts on Ariel being called out for being a typical damsel in distress? She saved Flounder multiple times while outmaneuvering a shark, destroyed Ursula's eels in the climax, and saved Eric 2 times. But, many people are saying it's not good enough and dismiss Ariel as weak, passive, and helpless (like Princess Peach, or Bella Swan from Twilight, or Mary Jane Watson from the Spiderman Trilogy (2002-2007) because she has to be rescued in the 3rd act.

A woman DOES need to be married to be happy. So does a man. Marriage completes the person. A person who never gets married is effectively doomed to despair.
@TitusCastiglione15032 жыл бұрын
Eh that’s simplistic. I know of people who aren’t married and live relatively fulfilled lives. Case in point, nuns and monks.
@dr.calibrations79842 жыл бұрын
@@TitusCastiglione1503 Fair point about the monks and the nuns, though I'd argue that they are rare exceptions that only make up for the lack of marriage by devoting their life to the word of God. I'm not going to invalidate your friends but I'd ask a series of questions such as; are they celibate? If they are continuously having premarital sex then I'd argue that they are headed towards despair, same for constant masturbation. Do they go out all the time? Might be because loneliness. Again I won't invalidate your friends experiences, but I'd argue, due to my faith sure, that if they aren't living a Christian life without marriage they aren't entirely fulfilled. This would exclude people searching for a spouse or people who have unfortunately, lost their spouse. No hate but simply my worldview.

@@RavenKnightYTEric was named after animator Eric Larson, he was originally supposed to be named Felix (though don't quote me on that). And the landscape, flora, fauna and architecture bears no resemblance to Denmark whatsoever. Eric's kingdom has mountains, palm trees, flamingoes and grapevines, none of which are native to Denmark. The ocean in the movie also looks too pleasant and warm to be the Northern Sea or the Baltic and the wildlife mentioned and seen in Under The Sea are also not found in the oceans around Denmark. Heck, HC Andersen himself describes the kingdom in a way that reminds of Mediterranean culture. From what I gather, I think Eric's kingdom is a fictional island nation near Italy. The movie's novelization and the alt-timeline book Twisted Tale call the kingdom "Tirulia."

Not saying this as a "Gokutard" or a "toxic" Goku fan, but they're making the same mistake that CBR. The characters that Goku could "lose" against? They're lying, like CBR. I bet Goku would win against even them, not just Shadow the Hedgehog. Another thing The Gamer the guilty of is bashing Rikku like the SJWs they really are in their biased "Final Fantasy Characters that Square Enix wants you to Forget" list. All because the girl wears a freaking bikini top in Final Fantasy X-2. Nowadays, only SJWs will hate Rikku wearing a bikini top, showing off her well-toned stomach for fansevice. I mean, I care about whether or not a movie is stupid, and I imagine the great authors such as Tolkien or Martin would as well. While I like Speed Racer, if Joker had operated on the same logic, I think it would be worse for it. I think we can agree that if Lord of the Rings threw reality out the window and became Dragon Ball Z, it would be a lesser story. Anything you want to have in a story relies on logic to function. This is why movies like the Last Jedi are bad - nothing it's trying to achieve is supported by any kind of logic.
