Did they though or did it taking Bernard Pollard knocking Steven Ridley out to cause him to fumble because well he was knocked out. That meant the Patriots were down by 15 instead of 8 with much less time on the clock.

I'm not a Raven's fan but the fact that they lost to the Patriots in the AFC Championship the year before and for them to pick themselves back up, get back to here, win it and win the Superbowl is insane! That doesn't happen in the NFL very often. Talk about being mature, focused, and determined. Much respect from me.

Might sound strange coming from a Ravens fan, but I miss Brady playing in NE. The rivalry between NE / BAL was surreal. In a five year period from 2009 - 2014, they faced off in the playoffs FOUR of those five years; with each team winning two. And the regular season games were every bit as intense. So much greatness on the field...Brady and Belichick, Ray and Ed Reed....awesome memories

its crazy tho bc 2011 was the best team we ever had imo (2006 a very close 2nd) , but Lee Evans worked his magic to spoil the season (Cundiff was suspect that whole year , we were trying to sign Shayne Graham before the Colts game - so that kick was inevitable). If he doesn't drop that pass , the 2012 superbowl doesn't happen bc Ray & Ed would be gone. But man the 2012 season was just special. It was literally like watching a movie plot unfold

@@adrianvalverde1636 I can't speak for this guy, I doubt he'll see it since he posted 6 years ago. But I wanted to look where we were at 6 years ago. We were 7-5. An up and down year. Alex Collins was our young RB that showed some promise. We'd picked up Maclin. Our defense was aging and our offense couldn't keep up. We were inconsistent. We ended the season 9-7 and missed the playoffs. In 2017 I also missed this team so very much. They really could have won 2 super bowls. The Patriots were fortunate to get a bad game from the 2011 Ravens. But I digress. Sitting here in 2023 with Lamar Jackson having a good season, the defense back to Ravens form, the spiritual successor to the legendary Ray Lewis perched at MLB(Roquan Smith) feels really good. It feels like a year we could take a super bowl.

After the Denver game, I just knew we were going to win the Superbowl. The chemistry, confidence and selflessness of the whole team was palpable. Everyone on that team truly bought in to something bigger than themselves. The media kept counting them out, but you still gotta play the game. And in this game, in the playoffs, all you need is eleven men on the other side of the ball that say not today.

It's been 5 years and 1 month since this game, and this is still the last time a road team has celebrated a conference championship on an opponent's home field. Only time since 1997 both road teams won. Now the home teams never lose.

Thoughts about the hit at 1:36:30 ? That hit nowadays would probably incur a huge fine and the guys with the concussion protocol would rush out there immediately. They'd probably also throw a flag during the play so the fumble wouldn't even matter. Part of me misses this aspect of football. If you hit a grown man hard enough to make him drop the ball, then the ball is yours. But on the other hand, this hit is concussion 101. Protecting players' long term health is good too.
@timothygilman1154
@timothygilman1154 7 жыл бұрын
Good point about Pollard's hit on Ridley and the resulting fumble. I much prefer today's concussion protocol and fines to yesterday's brushed aside helmet-to-helmet hits for player safety reasons. I also think it's funny/typical that the play isn't in the NFL's rundown of important events/times in the video description even though the ensuing Ravens drive led to a touchdown that put the game away. Erasing concussions won't solve the problem.

I'm a Steelers fan, and after being pissed at the poor coaching on the Steelers' part this past AFC Championship, I came here. Now, during the game this year, the Steelers got stopped at the goal line because they tried to run it up the middle, but while I was watching it, I was saying DeAngelo Williams should have faked the run up the middle and busted outside to score, while bringing a lineman over to block the Patriots guy trying to set the edge...well, I see the Ravens here in the same situation and the Pats in the same formation, only the Ravens ran the EXACT PLAY that I would have called, and they scored. So what does this mean? It means I could have called plays better than Todd Haley did in this game. Very disappointed in all of our coaches this year. Time for them to do some soul searching.
