It was probably because they had to hurry to release the game in 2000, the actual Year of the Dragon. So for the PAL version, they re-used some music themes for other levels (Seashell Shore for Crystal Islands, Cloud Spires for Haunted Tomb, Molten Crater for Dino Mines, and so on). However, for other versions (such as the Greatest Hits version), they were able to make time for Stewart Copeland to make more music tracks.

Greatest hits track for me is the best in fact I think it's the best music of all the bosses in the Spyro trilogy, sunrise spring despite being good for nostalgia does not work at all, strange the Sorcerers makes a roar in the pal version I have the greatest hits for europe and she doesn't let out a roar when you hit her.

if only developers had more time to finish this game. Imagine if Sorceress could have multiple phases like Ripto, where in each one you play all playable characters to help Spyro. Heck, maybe even Bianca could join the fight as well and reveal her betrayal.

Wow.. i never knew the original NTSC version used Sunrise Springs theme.. it kind of works but it's weird, i grew up with the PAL version of this game so i always associate Spikes Arena's song with this fight, i think it fits the best and makes it sound the most dangerous and serious, i don't hate the new song Copeland made for this fight but i would always rather have Spikes Arena's song.
@cookiesontoast99816 жыл бұрын
DeltaGem Calling me a fool is just stupid just for stating a music track preference, also no that's not what happened, there were no glitches, it was because 1: the game was rushed and Copeland hadn't even finished some tracks by the time it released and 2: Because the PS1 discs they were using originally didn't have enough space to fit all the tracks anyway.

For some reason, I had the original NTSC version and it indeed used the Sunrise Springs theme... Once. Later when I played through the game again it used the proper music and it has done so for every play through I have had since. I don't know if its a glitch that it played in the first place or its a glitch that fixed it.
@KatOwO22356 жыл бұрын
ok, I'm glad that there was music change in later versions because Sunrise Springs theme was the worst choice they picked for The Sorceress' battle, literally does not sound like battle music at all, doesn't fit, just makes the music sound stupid, using Spike's theme when they recycled music was the better option as that was battle music and works for both battles, the greatest hits soundtrack of all 3 games was used in the collector's edition boxset, and having separate music for every level was the best update as the Sorceress got one of the best battle music tracks ever in Spyro 3, if I had to rate the boss battle music tracks of Spyro 3, it'd be number 4: Spike, number 3: Scorch (every music track is orchestral with a hip hop beat, the battle tracks in Spyro 3 are a mix of orchestral and battle with a hip hop beat, Scorch is the only one with the most genres combined being orchestral, battle, and horror with a hip hop beat), number 2: Buzz because he's got the most memorable and catchiest of them all, and number 1: The Sorceress because of how epic, memorable, and how catchy it is

When I saw someone Speedrun this game via an emulator, I thought the Sunrise Spring music in this boss was a glitch, as my original PAL game had the correct music. Now that I see the music was as intended for NTSC... What a terrible design choice.
@ultraexcalibur17283 жыл бұрын
It wasn't a choice, it was glitched out of the game and was corrected in the Greatest Hits release

It seems to me like the PAL versions of the games are always the best. Almost like the PAL games are the ones that Insomniac used the most time on, seeing as the music fits better in the levels in PAL. It seems like the other versions were just thrown together.

I don't know, personally I do prefer the re-used tracks because the Greatest Hits ones feel a little...bland? like, Molten Crater feels attuned to the gunslinging excitement of Dino Mines, Seashell Shore adds to the mysticism of Crystal Islands, and Harbor Speedway, despite being repetitive, still seems to pump you up for fast-paced action every time. pretty much the only new track I think fits better is Evening Lake. eh, opinions.
@dragonheart81vids6 жыл бұрын
I've done all I can to appreciate the new themes but I just can't pull through. Might be nostalgia, as you said, but I've tried playing the Greatest Hits version myself, watched multiple Let's Plays involving the newer tracks, and listened to said tracks on their lonesome, and I really can't enjoy them at all. IMO, Seashell Shore kind of gave an interesting outlook on Crystal Islands, I could feel a connection (like, obviously not just because there's water there, but I felt that they both had a kind of mysticism about them), and Cloud Spires-for-Haunted Tomb provided an eerie and airy feel to the mysterious ancient catacombs. Dino Mines just sounded kind of calm and casual for a gunslinging shoot-out level, and the 'whooping' of Molten Crater fit with the fast-paced action. Honey Speedway is probably the only newer speedway track I do like--the aesthetic fits okay. But I can't remember what the others sound like at all. Can't hold them in my head, can't fixate on them. The skateboard music in the Towers was nice too. like, as much as I enjoyed these games I didn't fixate on them _that_ much...I played other games far more. Not to sound rude, but not every opinion on a 'classic' game may be nostalgia-clouded.
