I have been frequently listening to the mostly forgotten master pieces of Isaignani Ilayaraja for the past 20 years to share with my friends and grand children. What he has done was more than 25 years ahead of his time with limitations in instruments. He wanted a symphony out of every song he composed which was not possible those days. In fact, if he can write the notations of 'Kanmani anbodu' song today as a Symphony, the whole western classical world would hail at it as a masterpiece. In the movie Joker, there ia scene in which the song "en gaanam arangerum" from "Eera vizhi kaviyangal" would be played in the radio, which would give me goose bumps. Actually the full credit goes to the Joker's Music Director Sean Roldan who is a die hard fan of Isaignani Ilayaraja. In fact if you watch those films where he composed Music, he will invariably using Raja Sir songs in between the BGM score. If you ask him the reason, he would say they all were connected in his life time before becoming a Music Director. It is rare to find any Music Director without the strong influence of Isaignani Ilayaraja in them. Thanks a lot for this channel describing about Raja Sir in yet another dimension. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I came to know about a era vizhi kaaviyangal around 15 years back. There was a technical article about usage of crescendo on this en gaanam ingu arangerum song ( i might be wrong about the tech topic) . This is was written by one Raja bhakt (like me) . I believe BRR was an IIT Madras graduate in chemical engineering and the eldest brother of Cinematographer Vijayalakshmi Madam (first women DOP in the 80s) and a childhood buddy of Manirathnam (G Subramanian) as well. Incidentally Suhasini and BRVijaylakshmi were both trained to be cinematographers, I guess at BRR's place only Mani and Suhashini might have met each other..
