In my opinion, shastri has done a terrific job as a coach. 2 big matches however should have been won. champions trophy match against pak and world cup semifinal against NZ should have been won. MSD decision to send him down the order in WC semifinal is correct. its a gamble. if pandya and pant had won the match for India it would have justified the decision.

India came to number 7 for a brief period after 4-0 drubbing in England and Australia tour. But don't forget India had won 2007 t20 world cup, 2011 World Cup 2013 Champions trophy under MS and different coaches. In test matches India was number one before under coach Garry Kristen and MS Dhoni for a substantial period of time. What this nonsense is saying? Bhaad mai jai Arrogant Daruwala Shastri. Anil Kumble is not fit to be a coach. Dictator kind of leader will not work in these times. Anil kumble was Greg chappell-2. What's working is the dynamic of Dhoni and Kohli leading the team with a blend of their respective leadership styles. The best captain/finisher/strategist in the work, best batsman in the world. Backed up by the best bowler Bumrah, best fielder Jadeja, run machine Rohit etc. Spin duo Kuldeep and Chahal are helpless under pressure without Dhoni. Shastri is a lucky rat who is cashing in on the dynamic of this team. We have bowling, fielding and conditioning coaches who work hard to develop our players. This idiot is Kohli's pet dog, and Virat wants that because he likes complete control over the team. Noone says anything because they don't want their careers to end at the hands of Kohli. Shastri is watching the team work like a machine on it's own while he sleeps in his beer chamber.

Never accepts the series,pun intended, of mistakes made, being made, and will be made in his tenure as a coach. What confuses me is why do the selectors still continue to believe in the WOW WHAT A FIND! mentality with Pant? You just cannot compare him to MS when he was discovered, where the powers that be quickly learned Wow, what a Find!!! Not with Pant... sure his is only 22 and he may possess talent and skill with the gloves, but I strongly believe young Sanju Samson should be given a chance to prove his metal in an ODI series or atleast a few games. Give rise to a healthy competition between the two and may the best man win. Surely SS has got more domestic experience than Pant... and sadly Pant's not being consistent enough. I don't think MS will play many more ODIs if at all just a few so Team India need to select the best of these two young keeper/batsmen and strengthen its Core. Lets see... The same MSD bailed India out of trouble numerous occasions when the team was in a similar situation.. Eg.. India v Pak at Chennai in 2012... Dhoni is called a finisher because his is the Bevan of India.. he will come at 5/3 and then play till the 50th over to win the game...he is not Hardik Pandya to swing his bat and rely on luck... Had Dhoni been there, may be Pant wouldn't have played that stupid shot and got out
