You forgot to mention that when you put the arrow back into the trigger box you have to hear it click into place to disengage the anti-dry fire or else the bow won't fire. Also forgot to mention when decocking the bow to not let the crank handle slip out of your hand because it will continue to release unless you lift your thumb off of the release lever. You would think for something that costs that much money they would have updated their crank system similar to the 10 point acu slide where at any time during the decock process you can let go of the handle and it won't move.

How do you get your String to Release from the Carriage

To get the trigger box to release from the string you either have to A) shoot the bow or B) manually release it from the string. There are a few videos out there that show how this is done and there are a few people that make a 3D printed string latch release tool. Bill Shields, a.k.a. Big Bird has a KZbin channel and covers this. Also Jim Walton from Bakcyard Broadheads makes his version of the same thing.

Does your R29x scope have a 20 yard mark in the reticle?

Would this be better than the Tenpoint Viper S400? Never shot it, brand new. Thinking about trading it in for this one. What is your opinion. Battle Creek, MI Keith

If I was being honest, I cannot speak on the Tenpoint line up as we no longer carry the line in store. It was the customer service with Tenpoint that was the largest issue we had. Some repairs with Tenpoint that were simple and should have been resolved quickly but took longer than 6 months to get back to its owner. Ravin has been amazing getting hunters back into the woods quickly with any issues they may have during the season.

Please don’t release bad advice!! A bow or cross bow should not be use more then 50 yards !!! And that is in the hands extremely experienced hunter. IT NOT A 100 YARDS RIFLE !!!!!!!

Thank you for your opinion. Please note that there are plenty of individuals outside of the mid-west harvesting mule deer and other species outside of 60+ yards with both vertical and crossbows. I would kindly argue that it is the shooters capabilities that make these high stress shots possible.

There is a lot of wounding animals that you will never hear about it. Too many things could go wrong shooting over 50 yards with a crossbow or vertical bow. Just like rifle hunting, pass 500 yards is questionable. Only extremely trained hunters should take shots over 50 yards with crossbow and, over 400 for rifle hunters. Thanks for the reply.

The Ravin 500E is currently the fastest at 502fps

R500 model period. The "E" stands for ELECTRIC drive. Has no difference from the standard R500 FPS. The R500 and the R500E are the same FPS.
