this is about usb Peripherals, and not hdmi displays. so its probaly gonna be as easy as plug in the the usb-a from youre motherboard to the switch input, and than your peripherals in the switch output, that should work. and in some cases you need a extra usb-c power cable. (probaly when you use rgb keyboards that uses 2 cables ,1 for keyboard and 1 for rgb)

if you just want to switch mouse and keyboard, get a KVM. it will switch the display as well. My 34inch ultrawide G34WQ has one built in. One usb c cable goes to the laptop and it passes through display, mouse and keyboard.mouse and keyboard plug into the monitor. So use it mostly for desktop but if i need to work, i plug in one usb C cable and can switch back and forth with one click each time. USB switches are more for hardware like audio interfaces etc. doesnt make sense to use it for two computers and have to also switch video when a KVM is designed for that

So, if I understand this correctly... with the KVM switch on AMAZON, it can be setup to switch one Keyboard, one Mouse - between 2 computers using 1 display... (the only configuration possible with the switch box) - OR between 2 computers with each its own display... that way the screen on computer 2 can be up and displaying while computer 1 is the one being controlled by the Keyboard and the mouse

Sadly, anyone with a Razer Keyboard using this device, you will run into issues. I work from home on a laptop, and have my personal pc in there too. switching back and forth causes an issue with Razer synapse where the keybaord will begin "sticking/spamming" keys, forgetting macros exist, locking up for 5-10 seconds. Razer's response, don't use a KVM.

@MissAelona5 ай бұрын
Bought the switch however the 5v wire that's inbeded in any USB cable causes an overcharge between the 2 computers. Meaning that, if you have one device on, and once device off, there's a current leak going from the PC that is on, towards the PC that is off, it's missing some diodes. The only way to avoid this overcharge is to DIY 2 USB cables where you snip the 5v red wire off. And power the switch through a universal phone charger. Would not recommend using it with the cables as is. Because if there's irregularities on the circuit, they transfer to the "turned off" machine as well.

Great video! Thanks! In my case I've bought an MX keys from logitech and the M720 mouse also from logitech. With this setup I could switch between my notebooks easily. It's faster than your solution, but I needed something faster. If you use Windows on both computers or one Windows and one Mac, the best of all worlds is to use Logitech devices with the logitech options (flow) software. You can copy files between each other and use the mouse and keyboard without having to switch between them. If you use Linux, which is my case, there are tutorials that teach you how to do the same thing. Or if you want to spend money you can use Synergy, which is an internet solution that pairs two computers where one shares the mouse and keyboard as a server and the other as a client. With this in mind, the only thing I use today is a monitor switch because keyboard and mouse is solved.
