Schivarelli and Danny Seraphine have been good friends from the Chicago streets...way "before this group was born"> I was always bewildered by the fact, he didn't more to step in or prevent the voting out of the band, one of the greatest drummers the industry has produced.

@@jackhouston357 - Yeah..I'm seeing all this like Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. Many people ask..who are "The Miracles?!?! It's where the hits were. Then Smokey went on his own, gosh bless him. So did "the Miracles" and many incarnations of them. Don't hate either. However a manager coming in AFTER Chicago 1-10 (yeah he was a production assistant on Chicago 6...hmmmm), I don't give two poops about him talking smack about any of them. Really. Still a JWG fan, and even he had his battles with the band but..1-10 that's the thing, even though they wanted to leave after 7. But still 1-7. I agreed a bit with Peter, all of them should ave sown up, not just the "Schiverelli " Faithful. He should have let the band hash it out on their own...let Bob and Pete do it for goodness sake...and stayed the hell out of it. Just a fan, just how I saw it. This "interview"...well it does shovel much.

30 years? No, its GOT TO be a lot longer than that, since hes been around from the very beginning, late 60's before I was born. I've known him since I was 14 working at his family's restaurant, Demon Dogs. He was a good guy. Paid very well. Remembered you at Christmas. He came to my mother's wake in 1990. I'll never forget that, no matter what anyone else who never met him wants to say. When he cleaned these alleys for Streets and San, you could have EATEN off of them. I don't CARE where he was as long as the job was done. As a constituent, we were happy to pay him. Those alleys were CLEAN. Not anymore. My family's been here a very long time and we have property near his house.

People who live in the area he was responsible for getting the trash picked up in say (my family is there) it's never been cleaner before or since. This is true. So, he does know how to get the job done. The restaurant his family owned? I worked there 4 years. Trust me, I cleaned that place. I KNOW it was clean. :)

According to Peter's website, in Peter's own words, he declined because they wouldn't tune 25 or 6 to 4 to his range, which is accurate, but that he requested that ALL former members be invited to the induction, not to have the members of HIS band join/replace current members of Chicago. I see this guy, Schiverelli, as a world-class bullshit artist. I think every lie he tells has about 20% truth to it. He's the equivalent of the White House press secretary, puts the perfect amount of spin on an answer and double talks his way out of a corner. I'm not claiming that Peter is a saint, not by a long shot, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt over a guy who'll say anything to promote the group.
@luisalonsoecheverria
@luisalonsoecheverria 6 жыл бұрын
Peter declined cause he wanted to use his own band instead of Chicago. Also, I don't think he wanted to perform with the horns. Jimmy claimed that they had no problem changing the key, but realistically it might be awkward for the horns to transpose down from key of A to key of E which Cetera sings it in nowadays. And the thing is, even if Cetera did want everyone to show up, Champlin definitely wasn't gonna show up and who knows if Chris Pinnick or Dawayne Bailey for that matter would've attended. I think Donnie Daucus and Laudir de Oliviera would've attended if invited cause they were in NY sitting in with Danny Seraphine's Badass Rockin' Big Band that weekend.

This is Peter's exact, word-for-word, public statement on the matter. Do you see in here "I demand the bad daddies perform instead of Chicago?". This is Chicago twisting shit again. Just like they did with their 'documentary' that both Peter and Danny had issues with. -------------- January 6, 2016 Hello Everyone! I’ve just sent this mail to everyone involved. Hopefully it will answer all the questions concerning my participation in the Hall of Fame induction..Thanks Hello Robert, Danny, Lee, Walter, and James. I’m sending this to you and Danny since yours are the only email addresses I have. Please forward this to everyone. First off, congratulations all around on this long overdue honor. While our fans believe we should have been inducted years ago, they find it harder to believe that we haven’t even been nominated in all that time. Oh well, we are now! All the credit goes to those who voted for us in overwhelming numbers during the recent poll. They alone deserve our thanks for finally making this happen. I know we all look forward to speaking that evening and I’m sure we all wish that Terry was there to join us. That can’t happen unfortunately, but I have one thing that can. As a finale, we can walk onstage together one last time as a group, I’ll strap on the bass, and we can do 25or6to4 in the key of E. I believe it would make for one fantastic Hall of Fame moment and satisfy those who have always wanted some sort of reunion. Along with your current members, I would also like us to invite past members Laudir de Oliveira, Donnie Dacus, Kenny Cetera, Chris Pinnick, and Bill Champlin to join us up there as well on the song. They’ve all contributed to the legacy of the group and I think this would be a fitting way to honor them. In the end, this should go a long way towards healing old wounds and showing solidarity on that night. At least I hope so! See you all in Brooklyn, Peter

I know you’re all waiting to hear what’s happening with the Hall of Fame. I know how frustrated you all are, but trust me, no one is more tired and frustrated than yours truly. I had a conference call with the musical department today and I’ve presented another song option. Right now it’s about a fiddy fiddy chance that we can hammer something out by the weekend. Frankly folks, Im done if this doesn’t work out. Here’s hoping this one works…Ill let you know either way ASAP…Ciao, Peter Ps. As of today it’s now down to 25 per cent chance of happening.

Can't help but think that by asking for all of that, ol' Pete got what her really wanted; there was no way the group would agree to all of those "demands" and therefore, Pete, who probably did not want to attend, but did not want to look like the bad guy had Chicago decline, letting him off the hook. Stranger things have happened.

The negotiations went on for over a month. I don't think it's remotely that. In fact, I go the other way ... if the Hall hadn't inducted the band members by name, Chicago wouldn't have even invited Danny or Peter to be there ... just like the Hollywood Walk of Fame and just like the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. I don't call them trying to restrict Danny and Peter to a single song, seating Danny at a separate table and refusing thank former members and producers in their speeches as a sign of being 'welcoming'.

All I know if it weren’t for the blown up egos of the members remaining of Chicago and if they would have accommodated Peter with the E situation my favorite member of my favorite group would have been there and so many fans would have been ecstatic to be able to see him there. Not inviting Chris, Kenny, laudir and Bill and Donny on stage with them was just wrong for many reasons. They were all part of what helped make Chicago great even though they weren’t there from the start. Maybe people forget Terry invited Laudir to join because of his talent so it’s too bad he couldn’t have been on stage before he died.

The manager is VERY selectively editing what he's saying regarding why Peter didn't come to the HOF. He decided to leave out the fact that Peter is 71 YEARS OLD! He can't do "25 or 6 to 4" in A. It HAS to be brought down. Given that the manager's only self-admitted musical talent is "turning on the radio", he doesn't know a thing about singing or keys. If he did, he'd realize his request wasn't unreasonable. The band didn't want to change the key because they NEVER change keys...on anything. Lou Pardini is currently croaking his way through "Call on Me" in it's original key and it's painful to listen to because he can't hit the notes anymore. If they won't bring that tune down a step or so, there was no way they'd do it for Cetera either. Shame, too. He might have showed if they'd have acquiesced.

Chicago died the day Peter Cetera left the band. They're not even close to being the same. Lamm wrote some good songs and I'll give him credit. But Cetera wrote the biggest hits for them. And of course, there's that voice of his. Golden. Its practically impossible to replace.

One of the greatest American rock bands in history, yes they were way overdue. Had they gotten in 20 yrs earlier as they should've, Peter Cetera would've probably been there and it would've been an event, instead they were inducted way too late and it wasn't as spectacular as it could've and should've been. Peter said the same exact thing! He said the band told him he can’t do his solo project so yeah they kicked him out. He even publicly said he was going to do a solo project then return to Chicago so Peter is probably bitter that he was genuinely going to come back to Chicago and they wouldn’t let him. I mean after almost 20 years of playing in the band he wanted a break lots of singers do that and come back. Then he wanted to change the key of the song probably because it would be easier for him to sing and they said no to that. I hate how they say that they didn’t kick him out but they gave him an ultimatum they tell him that he can’t do a solo project which is not convenient for the band but had they took a break so he could do it he might have came back all refreshed and ready to do a new Chicago album. I know for myself and many other musicians my main band which I loved so much and was my favorite style of music well I also liked heavier music and just because I did another project that doesn’t mean I didn’t love my main band at all and with me doing the heavier project I could learn a lot more about music and make the next record for the main band that much better because I was a main songwriter. One band that really comes to mind is blink 182 the guitar player did a solo project and the bass player was super pissed off about it but the next blink album was that much better because he did a solo project and he learned a lot. We will never know the 100% details but it’s very possible that had the band let Peter do the solo project and come back that he could still be in the band today.

i agree. In addition Peter gave the band a massive comeback when they were in the rocks! In fact they made more money off Pater's hits than their first decade with Terry. What people don't realize is Peter wrote when Bobby or James weren't able to. Peter gave Chicago so many blockbuster hits - the band still plays all Peter's hits and gets the biggest applause in concert. So they are fine with profiting off Cetera while at the same time badmouthing him. I hate the way CHI fans shut Cetera out of the history. It's full of shit they couldn't play 25-6-4 in a lower key. They are pros, aren't they? This guy is saying it wouldn't have worked if Peter did a solo project. But they let Robert do a solo project, didn't they! Not a question but a fact! I am mighty tired of this gaslighting BS!!

Terry's very talented, had a great voice and great guitarist, but his relevance was over about 1973. Peter started singing all their hits and pretty much became the voice of Chicago. Terry's last hit that he sang was Wishing You Were Here in 1974, written by Cetera.

I have recently been listening to Chicago again. My thoughts: this group is so old, that they have to make accomodations to the singer for his age - AND THEY DIDN'T WANT TO. So, in their desire to make everything exactly as it was, they drive away the only band member that truly cannot be replaced. They should be glad Cetera is still singing at 71. It seems to me Chicago was trying to inject some socialism into the band, and it failed here just as it usually fails. People are not equal. A horn player can be reasonably replaced - a singer as unique as Cetera cannot be.

Good Interview. Given my recollection of the Peter Cetera's comments, sound like a missed opportunity for Peter to at least have some comments and stand on the stage for acknowledgement of his contribution to the iteration of the group that is actually being awarded. I am a an avid Peter Cetera music fan but I think it would have been silly for him to bring his current band to perform Chicago's songs. Was Bill Champlin invited? He as much as Peter and David Foster's influence filled the void in the 80's to allow the band to have the continuity they are so proud of communicating today.

Dude - do some research. Go on Peter Cetera's website and you'll see exactly what he proposed to do with the band. Nowhere does he say "I demand to perform with my band". What he does do is ask to lower the key, and ask that former members be included as well. When the band refused that, he proposed they do an alternate song, verified here. Do some more research and you'll find that they wanted Peter and Danny to perform on a single song while their current lineup performed the rest. Watch videos of the induction and you'll see Danny drinking water before he has enough and starts drumming along. Do some more research and you'll find they sat Danny (and Michelle Kath) at a different table and that Robert tried to exclude Danny altogether.

The changing of 25 or 6 to 4 from the key of A to E changes the dynamics of the song in terms of brass arrangement; now I get it, Cetera doesn't have the pipes to hit the notes anymore, as a vocalist myself I don't hit notes I did at age 24 and I'm 61 years old, so he ten years older than I am, I get it...There were other songs that could have been offered that would have worked too, but not 25 or 6 to 4. I myself could have seen them offering a medley that would have hem do If you Leave me now in that lower key, that wouldn't have changed the dynamics of the arrangement, and yes there would have been light brass in it and it was actually a grammy winner, so there could have been the compromise, but then again, Cetera wanted his Brother up there because Kenny Cetera was the Backup for so many songs...Look he was a BACKUP, over ther were countless backups for the band over the years, the Caribou Kitchenettes were backups(and two or three of them ended up being ex-wives, so you want them up there too? NO) and that was an out of line request...so I get the rift, in this issue Cetera gets 90% of the blame for not showing; he owed it to his kids to compromise and work it out, the got cheated along with the fans, but for them it was a bigger lloss, their dad didn't show up for his legacy moment; how sad..

90% of the blame? Are you insane? The fucking band tried to get Danny Seraphine to SIT OUT most of the songs so that they could focus on the current line up. The fucking band sat Danny Seraphine *AND* Terry Kath's own daughter tables away from everyone else. The fucking band refused to thank former members or producers (including James William Guercio and David Foster for fuck's sake) in their speeches. Hell - Donnie Dacus and Laudir De Oliveira were in the audience and they couldn't be bothered to say "thanks". Danny Seraphine was the only one who could be bothered to get up and give a "thanks everyone speech", to which Robert Lamm wrote a vicious, mean spirited blog afterwards about his "rambling long winded speech". Danny even complained on Twitter after how Robert tried to cut him out of the hall of fame all together. Meanwhile, fucking Lee Loughnane is going on in interviews about how this is the "promotional gift that keeps on giving" because the band will be out there all year touring. How about goddamn Robert Lamm citing that they'll be performing all songs he wrote (no one else ... not Terry, not Peter, not Jimmy, not anyone but him) at the event? Sorry but Peter getting "90% of the blame" for not showing? I get the disappointment, but that's so unbelievably ignorant of you to say. The band tried to turn the event into a fucking commercial for their touring oldies act and had no interest in celebrating history/accomplishments with Danny or Peter. Had they not been called out by name, it would have been like the Hollywood Walk Of Fame (that Danny and Peter weren't invited to) or the Grammy Achievement awards (that Danny and Peter weren't invited to).

@@DracIsBack - Reading your post...got me teary eyed. But I want to thank you. You have hit it 100% on the nose. My family LOVED this band, so my memories of them are with my family. I was so damn disappointed with their "thank yous" at the RRHOF. YIKES!!!! Gosh, I saw the RRHOF before and after them and saw how so many other bands thanked people who didn't show up, played with old band member they could have 'dropped kicked through the goal posts" but came together for the moment.... old managers, etc. Lamm came off very condescending like he HAD to thank Schiverelli like he was some freakin' God. Pffft, on you Lamm. Gotta be honest, the other band members thanked their ex's , (Well, Lee was the fumiest of the evening. I loved it). I was disappointed in Lamm for even that. Very self centered in that way so I gotta go with your post, and I didn't even know about the blog. How awful that must've been for Dan, but I am seeing that selfishness of Lamm (which he really wasn't long ago that much - I don't get this side of him). Peter is no angel, of course, but he knows his limitations and he is human and has a breaking point. This manager...sucks. He could have brought them together but instead, it seems like he made the riff wider. And he's talking here to make others look like "the bad guy". Sorry Schiverelli, seem like you did squat, but make it all worse. James (whom I love) and Robert and Terry (yeah TERRY, TERRY,TERRY) had recordings 1-3 songs going. That is True. JWG managed them and had a real iron fist at times and was quite the bastard. That is true. But then recordings 4-10 were up there or them under JWG. More songwriters, more experimental musicianship. More contributors. 7... is my favorite Album of theirs. So they parted ways with JWG. It happens, but he was brilliant for them. 16 and 17 and 18....my gosh, David Foster. David freakin' Foster gave them a second wind. Big-Assed wind. I was so disappointed - not a thank you dog...nothin!! Crap! Loved Pete and Bill - really loved Bill's addition and performances. And Don and Laudie were there? Nothing? And the camera shows this guy?!?! THIS GUY?!?! Not even a 'praise be' for Irving Azoff?!!! He was in there during that time and yeah...Irving. Freakin' Irving Azoff. Freakin' magic touch Irving Azoff. Oh goodness. Sorry. It's like the band has Stockholm Syndrome with this guy. I think it's all about THIS guy. Sad. I feel that if Pete and Bob and Jim and Lee took a second out and went to Starbucks or something on their own said, "Let's do a few cities as a last hurrah, add in Dan for some, Walt for some, Don and Bill...and then let the others come in and play along side, cause we're old and can't do it all, it would be a blast. Our last ...blast. And hey, Let's get Irving to handle it. And yeah let's have that 3 women soulful back up singers (Caribou Kitchenettes, indeed!) ..EWF did it one tour and it worked out for a fuller sound... Let Schiverelli sit on the sidelines for a rest. Feed the ducks". Again, just a fan...swimming in sad thoughts for a wonderful band....and agreeing with you.

Peter Cetera must be really messed up in the head. Saw him completely embarrass several young girls in the front row at one of his shows, for of all things...taking pictures of him! He stopped the show to scold them, it was an uncomfortable moment and said a lot about him.

HYPOTHESIS: Did Cetera want to sing 25 or 6 to 4 in a different key @ RRHOF because he can no longer consistently hit the high notes of the song's original key? Maybe he didn't want to risk public embarrassment by singing in the original key. No disrespect intended toward Cetera at all. Hey, we all age and can't do everything we used to do when we were in our 20s. So we adapt. We adjust. Hopefully others cooperate when we need to do that. If that was the reason, & Cetera didn't tell that to his former bandmates, that's *very* sad. It would be yet another case of "Man's pride makes him refuse to admit weakness and ask for help and thus messes things up for everyone." In other words: He's human just like the rest of us. Nobody likes to be publicly embarrassed.

You dont know very much about Chicago do you. First, Chicago never put garbage out. In the first 11 albums, Peter Cetera had three songs that you could call a hit. So if any one was carried, it was Cetera for 10 years!

@@nickf9392 interesting; attacking the truth. Yes. It is the truth Peter Cetera gave Chicago their first no 1 song in '76, If You Leave Me Now; which showed what the listening audience liked so the record company demanded more & Peter was the only one at the time capable of writing them. The band was in a funk & not getting the airplay they'd gotten fr early days but the moneymaker Cetera hits were. He allowed them to see wealth they'd never dreamed of. Hard to Say I'm Sorry was the biggest No 1 in '82. You couldn't stop him from there. Like it or not. Cetera was the voice of Chicago, the money maker & some people just couldn't and still can't handle it. As much as some hate it, Chicago gained their icon status off all the Cetera hits in the 80's. And tho the boys don't include Cetera in recollections of the past, they play all the Cetera Hits & pander off them; those songs always get the biggest applause. People change, bands evolve. Chicago has been at it for decades. True music lovers know great music when they hear it and are not afraid to say Cetera was huge & great for Chicago.

Peter Schivaelli is a damned good manager for Chicago, overall and well n' good, I'm saying. He in no wise, however, neither not to any type, sort, kind or which a way, anyway, the other way. Or, even so much, to otherwise has a fricking-fracking thing to say about band personnel anythings. PERIOD! The horn section: Walt Parazaider. Jimmy Pankow. Lee Loughnane. And also, Robert Lamm, do all the talking. Make all decisions, in such regard, to band business! Schivaelli couldn't negotiate a damned thing, over R&R Hall fiascos, not so much, to sheerly -nothing! Excepting, anything equating, which may or might be involving, to wit: all and otherwise things else and STUPID! So, that's why things were so F'd up, Cetera never had a real chance. He's not blameless. Dollars to donuts, though, Peter wasn't this Prima Donna. Some hamster-likened of a little bitch, causing all the faultiness, to reasons as for why Peter Cetera didn't fly! No. After all, his last name ain't a'tall spelled: 'Pan.' 🌞

Jim gurrcio was the main guy in the beginning .I think he should have been there . TRARHOF is all political. I hate that rolling stone magazine. Chicago was my first favorite band growing up. I didn't get to see them in concert till 2000s. Would have loved it if they were the original members. But they were ok. Robert was singing. I got to see Peter in 2016. As soon as he walked on stage. I don't know, but thought he was a pompous as. His mannerisms and the way he talked. He wanted to embarrass 4 ticket holders that was not in there seats yet. Ego? The 4 seats were right in front of him, center. Seats were empty for the whole show!😂🤣😂🤣😂
