Great question! For that I typically use *Virtual Copies.* Once your 1st edit is where you like, create a virtual copy. Begin editing your 2nd. You can then select both and use the hotkey 'C' to compare the two next to each other! :)

A Subscription is the only way you can use the current versions of Lightroom.
