For those complaining that you're being "biased" to WCW better have that same energy when the Attitude Era comes around and the WWF starts taking all the Ws for the rest of the War. There better not be any complaints, hell there shouldn't be any now. WCW at this point had much better matches and content than the WWF. I'm enjoying this series overall. Keep up the good work!
@Thor-Orion4 жыл бұрын
There are going to be nights during the attitude era that will go to WCW, until 2000ish wcw still had some good stuff going on, but was getting super hit and miss. Wwf just has this narrative where before the nwo showed up Nitro was never competitive with them, but that’s just untrue, they were neck and neck in ratings before wcw took over, and they had better overall match quality. HBK, Razor, Bret Hennig and Owen are far and away wwf’s best in ring workers before Hall showed up in wcw, whereas Wcw had a roster full of good workers.

Let us be honest, the WWF was known for squash matches and gimmick wrestlers back then. The Monday Night Wars got WWF to up their game, slowly. It took a while before the WWF started to get better, the change of Rocky to "The Rock", Mankind, Stone Cold Steve Austin and so on. WCW was a mixed bag, some really goofy stuff, but the Outsiders was a gigantic shot of adrenaline to WCW. It then slowly went downhill as the NWO just got too silly and big. I forget which wrestler said it, but it went along the lines of "the WWE is a wrestling company that does television, while the WCW was a television company that did wrestling." I think at the end of it, you saw how true that statement was as the WCW imploded from within.

You can say what you wish, as everyone is entitled to their opinion, but come on, this hasn't been terribly close as of yet. I know that this will swing the other direction in a year or so, or at least, get closer, but let's remember what's going to happen from the middle of 99 until the close of doors at WCW in '01. I'm intrigued and excited for the entire journey of this show, but the early matches are VERY likely going to go to WCW because they just had a better product! Thanks for the excellent show and well thought out, balanced and open-minded opinion, sir! Keep up the great work!

This was the first time I ever sat down to watch a wrestling show. I never cared for wrestling before this. I was 9 years old. I was looking for something to watch on this night (January 1, 1996) as it seemed there was nothing to watch. I saw "WCW Monday Nitro" in the TV guide in the newspaper and thought "Hm.. That sounds pretty cool. Is that an action anthology show?" Sat down and started watching at 8:00PM. Oh, it's wrestling? I had never heard of WCW before (only WWF). Hulk Hogan is on here? Macho Man is here as well? That's cool. I know them. The next week. Same scenario. I just needed something to watch as there was nothing else on. I watch Nitro. Third week (January 15, 1996) I was officially hooked. I stuck with WCW until the very end, and only watched WWF during commercial breaks and only if WCW was not on. I still bleed WCW to this day, and will defend them until the day I die. Even the garbage storylines and trash of 2000 - 2001 (the in ring wrestling was still amazing though). I almost stopped watching wrestling entirely after March 26, 2001, but I kept watching WWE because of Edge (He is my favorite wrestler of all-time). It took me almost 10 years (starting 2009) of scouring the internet for every piece of WCW media I could get. I now have every Nitro, Saturday Night, Thunder, Pro, Main Event, Worldwide, and Power Hour since 1990. Life is good. Oh and Starrcade 1995 is worth it just for Dusty Rhodes commentary alone, nevermind the absolutely incredible card. WCW for Life!!

2:50 This match was also for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. I think, after a horrible year with Bam Bam Bigelow losing to a football player, Nash as champion, Mabel as King of the Ring, the Main Event of Halloween Havoc and Hogan still trying to be relevant, WCW Starrcade 1995 was a great show.

22:35, I always wondered why Flair wore the same knee pads and boot color combo as Hogan.

I was so oblivious when I was young watching wrestling. I didn’t even realize Eric was giving away results lolol I was just hooked on both shows. My brother and I were just flipping back and forth. If Raw was stale we flipped to Nitro. If Nitro was stale we flip back to Raw but because Raw was only an hour at the time the first hour of Hour of nitro was watched with no interruptions

Because they were going back and forth trying to outdo each other every week

Oh gee, Super Assassin #2 was my favourite wrestler! I also enjoy the works of Henchman #7 and Thug #6 in 80s action movies!

Lex Luger was actually still a heel while Sting was a baby face. Luger had ties to the Dungeon of Doom.

Whoever said you were pro-WCW was wrong. You be done your best to call it down the middle. Keep on posting the great videos that you do so well.
