2:57 I totally understand the point that you are making, but I feel like that’s just who Savage was. He was always very generous to people he recognized as talent. You’ve pointed out in recent weeks that while Hogan was waiting for the hot tag, Savage was selling like crazy to Flair in Anderson and whoever else. He independently decided to put over DDP. So Macho selling to an obvious workhorse with the intensity of Benoit is not surprising.

Awesome as always! I would give Nitro the first point though giving them the win 3-2 overall, but it was close. You should update the (Neilson?) ratings total at the end of each episode also. Like, since Nitro won that this week, what is the total score of who is winning the actual ratings war as it progresses.
@oldironsides41073 жыл бұрын
The Nielsen ratings are pointless. First you have to find people who will give access to record things they watch. And it goes off what a tiny percentage of weirdos watch. It should be taken with a grain of salt.
@MisterGravelrama3 жыл бұрын
The basis for my original comment was simply to see the accumulating total rating by which brand had more viewers overall as the "war" progressed. What is involved in the measurement of how those numbers are created is irrelevant.

Another great presentation here. I'm really glad u don't make a huge deal or of the ratings. I actually believe with how short the shows are at this point that the ratings reflect more how good the previous show was and making people toon in to see what happens instead of actaully how good the current show is. I know it becomes a huge thing but really even the show that loses still starts getting higher and higher ratings so even though they may lose they are still progressing. Anyway another great video 🤠👍 keep up the good work.

There were a few occasions where I went out of my way to check Nitro out to see my favourite Randy Savage, but would see Hogan BS so would stick with WWF and made little effort with WCW after that. I wouldn't have known the politics of Hogan at the time, but I could tell that what he was doing didn't make sense and was unfair to his friends. I remember the Savage promo on Hogan embarrassing himself and hogging the limelight and rang true for me, even as a younger fan. I remember the few WCW VHS tapes I watched must've been around 92 because I remember Vader, Sting and Rick Rude. I can only imagine what it must've been like as a longtime WCW fan in 1995 when Hulkamania was runnin' wild.

This Nitro really shows the contrasts between Hogan and Savage. Hogan was always so reluctant to put over other wrestlers and make them look good, and it hurt wrestling as a whole. Savage though was always willing to make his opponents look good, even if it meant making himself look weak in comparison. It was great for business, but it's hard to imagine how much greater Savage's storied career could've been if he hadn't been so giving.

The problem I had with WCW at this time was that just about every single match ended with either a DQ or someone leaping into the ring to jump one opponent or the other. There were too many different little factions going after one another. It was starting to get a bit ridiculous.... WWF did this too, but not quite as much. And the way they pulled it off just seemed a bit better in terms of storytelling. WCW just seemed all over the place with what they were doing.
@chase138 Жыл бұрын
