Back in Peru where I grew up during this time period, the local TV station that carried RAW and Smackdown would only show a condensed 1 hour version of each show. The show would have the opening promo/match, a few mid card matches or promos relevant to the world title and the main event. This meant we missed a lot of the low and mid-card matches and storylines. Thanks to this series I finally get to enjoy some of that stuff of this era we missed Head Cheese, the APA, Godfather and DLo, etc.

And with the birth of the hand by Mae Young, which at least grew up to be a seemingly respectable young man, we have seen the last of Mark Henry on Reliving the War, I believe. Wcw fantasy booking, Sid opens the show, his stomach taped and admits that he’s hurt, but that doesn’t mean he’s weak and challenges anyone in the back to a title shot in the main event, he’ll dangle the gold in front of all the sharks in the back and powerbomb the first one who comes to take a bite. Out comes Luger looking to continue what he started and become champion, but even as he lifts the mic to his lips and claim the challenge there’s Sting behind him, baseball bat to the head, Sting takes the mic from Lex’s limp hand, steps over his body and calls out Sid, “It’s show time!” Main event, there’s no guitar nonsense before hand, they let Sting and Sid work for 5 to 10 minutes, actually put on a (what am I writing, I’ve clearly gone insane) show before the interference, the two guys in the ring fight it off before turning on each other again hitting a double closeline. Sting is up first, looking to lift Sid and finish him off but it’s pin or be pinning as Sid rolls up Sting for a sudden 1, 2, 3. Sting is up first, fuming at the loss and stands over a broken Sid still lying in the middle of the ring, are we going to see a heel Sting? No, (Sting always works better as a face) the Stinger stops, composes himself and laughs, gesturing for a mic. “You got me there champ, you took advantage of my ring rust to steal a win, but I got to say, you’re not looking that strong. I think us sharks will be circling even closer from now on, I’ll be seeing you in the again ring real soon.”
