A cool video would be watching you Boil the large Frankly Roll. I'd love to see it "break down into a Powder"... Same with the "No-Hide"..

That's a great idea, we might give that a try in the future with a few other products on the market as well. Thank you!

Hi! I have two young Poms, and I need to have various chews for them. I went to the shopping website you have in your video, and it says, I can't find page. I'm always looking for healthy chews. Thanks😃

Hey Tina! We have actually updated our website recently to make it easier to navigate. That broke a few of the old links. Here is the page: mypetsplus.com/collections/chews-treats

Rawhide actually put a hole in my 2 year old German shepherd. We had to put him down . Do not give dogs rawhide.

Hi Pets Plus, Have you yourself ever put the Frankly collagen roll into a pot of boiling water? I'm asking because after seeing your video I was curious. I bought a Frankly roll and boiled it. After extensive boiling I'm left with a sheet of very tough material that I'm unable to tear. I can see no differences between the Frankly collagen chew and the rawhide chew that I boiled with it as a control. Investigating further, I see that Frankly is made by Diedrich pet and that a Diedrich tannery resides at the same address as Frankly. Considering that all rawhides for all practical purposes are 100% collagen, and like Frankly collagen chews, are made from corium, it appears to me that the Frankly collagen roll is untanned cattle skin, which has traditionally been marketed as rawhide rolled up as a chew. Interestingly to me, I also boiled a No Hide and just like the rawhide and the Frankly collagen chew it shrunk and curled but remained a tough sheet of material that I could not tear. This was surprising ! I'd expect a chew made from agar agar and rice flour to fall apart like other chews made with flour and gelatin that I have soaked in hot water. Again looking further I see that their is a pending class action alleging No Hide contains rawhide, apparently because independent testing results were consistent with it being an animal tissue product.

But the collagen ones are 5X more expensive. That’s why it’s recommended of course.

Holy cow thank you for sharing!! I wasn't aware of the dangers with both choices. I'm going to keep searching and hopefully i can find a safe alternative for my Boston who is a very aggressive chewer.

@@BeefNEggs057 It depends on where you get them. Sam's club has a 24 pack of them for $20 (TruRanch Collagen)...so about $0.84 each.

Are there products that any of these can be inserted into to help prevent the choking hazard with the last short bit?. Like the devices for the bully chews?
@PetsPlusBemidji

Hey Nicky, good question! Most of the chews mentioned in this video are much larger than a bully stick and the holder devices you'll see for sale, which is great for preventing choking. The collagen chew is similar in size to a bully stick, so supervision is still needed for that one. We don't have a holder for that particular chew. You should give the Peak Chaser Chews a try! When they get smaller, you can toss them in the microwave for 45 seconds and they puff up to a safe, delicious treat. Our pups love them!
