Spectacular neck guard Joe. Thank you for walking us thru the job … confidence is high now. Nice thing you doing some axe serenading towards the end. HA! I like that, keep it up friend! Tell the Boss, when you see him next, I said hello and ask about his red bug-out pack. HA!

The string was key in the pattern making for me, a cool technique for accuracy. Enjoying? Certainly do. Hey, I turn 71 on June 24th, but I'm still moving on the moving on. You're never to old to learn stuff.

Great rawhide collar. I'll put one on my 6 lb splitter soon. Overstrikes never happen with my axe, only my splitter after getting into 3 or 4 cord of seasoned hardwood - just to make it a bit smaller. Often times mishaps occur when I get tired and have a few misses. Tks for this informative video, looks more efficient than a leather one. Cheers.

I like that Joe! Makes the axe look nice as well as protection if used at all splitting wood 4 sure. I rem using snowshoes filled with moose hide years ago on wet snow, the rawhide got so loose, tighten it then, and when dried few days later tight as a bug in a rug...great vid .
@joesneon5 жыл бұрын
Glad you like it my friend!!! Once the rawhide is bone dry on snow shoes it was shellacked to prevent that. Thanks for watching!!

Great vid Joe. I was in tractor supply in Queensbury last week and they had bags of rawhide cut into strips already, huge bag for 3 bucks. Might save a few minutes.

I know this video is a little old now but just a idea to smooth the transition from wood to rawhide is if you maybe laced it from the bottom up so the knot was directly under the head of the axe. Id assume you wouldn't feel the knot as much
