Any Ghanaian who passes through the 70s till date and voice out that Rawlings didn’t do anything for Ghana, is either he/she has a personal problem with him or he/she grew up and was told the story from a different angle but when I look at where Ghana is coming from, I will say a big well done to J.J Rawlings. Ghana as a nation has had only two president in terms of development and being patriotic to their nation.

Am speaking as a Ghanaian who lived in Ghana and now living abroad, am not in supportive of taking someone’s life but if we can all remember the 1st acclaimed coup done by J.J was not a violent one, he didn’t kill anyone but yet he was nearly sentence to death by the corrupt judges and leaders people are crying over now. If anyone of us were in Rawlings shoes at that time, were you going to let this corrupt leaders go free?

find out about America, Germany… and see the number of people they killed before reaching this stage of democracy, no country on this planet didn’t go through loss of lives before being democratic, everything comes with its prize and no country on this earth can say it went through a peaceful transition. These countries have moved on and developing and some of us admire them but give blind side as to what they did to get there.

His accent is Ghanaian. He just is influenced by being well travelled. Most educated Ghanaians speak this way if you meet enough of them.

Most Ghanaians suffers from emotional immaturity , truth concerns about justice, this preserves life and advances a people. Indeed, only liars, thieves and extortionists "HATES" Jerry John . Democracy without accountability is just corruption, it leads to misappropriation, abuse, suffering and destruction of a people and a nation. If you cannot think beyond your feelings, you'd not discover truth and be great.

Three points; 1. Ironically, I recall this man governing with fear as well. 2. By tasted freedom he meant tasted power. 3. A coup is a coup regardless of the rationale. Too bad the interviewer didn't bother challenging him.

You said it perfectly. He was opposed to the handing over after June 4. He tasted power and wanted it back. Also it was personal. He was of the opinion that Limann's security was trailing him. So the countr6has to go through bloody coup because Rawlings was being trailed.
