'88 Honda VT1100 Bobber build
The final video of the Honda Shadow bobber project for my buddy Chris.
In the previous video, the bike was disassembled and the frame and many parts were painted in matt and semi-gloss black 2K paint. The fuel tank and fenders were wrapped in 3M grey.
Let’s start with this video, I began by making 2 flanged bushings to mount the seat springs onto the lower seat plate which I made. Then the carburetors were disassembled, because the bike didn’t run the past 2 years there was some contamination in the main- and idle jets and float bowls.
When a carburetor is disassembled, always check for potential cracks in the diaphragm on top of the throttle valve. When it contains cracks, this will prevent the throttle valve to open completely due to vacuum loss, and therefore you’ll lose power.
The rear shocks, wheel, brake, and exhaust were reinstalled. On the front, the new speedometer and custom bracket were installed together with the freshly painted headlight.
After the installation of the grey wrapped parts and some fine-tuning of the carburetors it was time for a nice test drive, it performed perfectly (but what else would you expect with a Honda!?).
Thank you for watching, we hope you've enjoyed it.
Keep on building!

great build as usual. Big fan of your work. In fact you motivated me to work on my 1100 spirt. That being said I’ve 3 quick questions for you. 1. When removing the rear tire (trying to take off old fender side clamps) when unscrewing the shock bolts they wont come all the way. any idea why?? ( I do raise the bike just not all the way were the tire no longer touching the ground) 2.did you made that rear fender? Can i make mine with my old fender?? 3. Is there any issues with lowering the top triple tree??? Am thinking on sliding them down the forks and then using a handle bar riser to mount a “low rise bad boy handlebar.” Thanks. Hope to hear back from you soon.
@RawMetalRacers
@RawMetalRacers 6 жыл бұрын
PAUL, thanks mate! Really nice to hear it motivates you to build something yourself! First, the bolts of the shocks should come off completely, even if the full weight of the bike is on it. (The bolts only keep the shocks in place, the shocks themselves slide on a frame part which transfers the weight) You could use your original fender. But I think a fender which I made for this project is a lot nicer, as it follows the contour of the rear tire! You could lower your triple tree a few inches if you like, but keep in mind it changes the handling of the bike a bit. Good luck with the build Paul!

Raw Metal Racers - don't suppose you have a picture?? Or diagram? I had to cut a tube with internal diameter ever so slightly bigger than the swingarm tube external diameter down the middle. Welded a tab on with 10mm movement left to right . Then both cut pieces wrapped around swingarm tube with thick costing if sikaflex. Two pole clamps then tying it all down. Bolt through guard which goes through hole in tab with nuts on top an underneath tab to secure once height and horizontal position obtained, - what a fuck around - need fingers like Japanese jewler!!
