This video was perfect for that and made me into a new fan of his. It's amazing how much we all struggle, even those that reach mountaintops where the rest of us think they have it made. I still think Dave would have achieved what he has with foo fighters whether he was with Nirvana or not. He created the first break through foo fighters album in 1995 in his basement by himself in a botched up home made studio and had no publicity to help sales. All on his own.
@scottmarikirito17193 жыл бұрын
Foo fighters self titled album was recorded in a whopping 5 days in the same studio where "you know you're right"(nirvana) was recorded, just a few minutes from Dave's Seattle home. Almost all the songs had be pre written during Dave's time with nirvana so much of the writing process has been finished. His sense of timing and ability to play loud and efficiently allowed him to finish an album in a very short time span and begin promoting it small scale on CDs and mixtapes.

I will always be grateful to when I was a 11-12 yr old kid when we lost Kurt. The era was over and I didn’t quite hate Bush and some of the generic stuff that came shortly after but there was some great music coming out that summer of 94. I was hoping something was going to come to save the day and the feeling was grim to being possible. Then I heard about Dave doing the album. I was so fucking excited when I heard it on MTV news. Being a broke kid my friends and cousin bought it when it came out to flaunt but listening to it I was so fucking into it. Especially when Colour came out MAN. What a time. It really is great to me to see how much he did but how much people seen what I did even when he was only Nirvanas drummer. I am hugely influenced by his playing and back then he didn’t get much recognition in the music community. Yeah people seen it but not like now. Dave wasn’t the biggest drum influence back then believe it or not. There were those who thought Nirvana was so simple but completely didn’t see how solid of a player he really was.

To me, grunge actually died when “Something In The Way” was put into Batman. I think we can all agree that Cobain never wanted to go Hollywood and it’s not what grunge is. It’s a sad metaphor of Cobain’s life with Batman that they tried to execute for the movie. It’s really cool that Grohl practically did the impossible and redefined new-age rock, but the power of money is disgustingly untouchable even for grunge 😔

Both Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain came from broken homes, divorced parents. The difference is Dave had a mother who was active in his life and supportive also available. Dave was also able to stay in touch with his dad for advice. Unfortunately Kurt's parents were the total opposite of what Dave experienced. Dave throughout his career has possessed an emotional intelligence that serves him well until this day. It makes me wonder if Kurt turned to drug addiction because of his sensitivity as his parents were total crap. I'm not trying to be judgmental, it's just an observation. Kurt went on record complaining about stomach pain issues which caused him to use heroin to combat the pain. Either way it's still a tragedy to commit suicide ending what could have been a promising future.

I think you give kurt too much credit lol. He was good at coming up with catchy melodies but by his own admission was incredibly lazy and didn’t even care for writing lyrics that much. The whole band has said that the writing process in nirvana was basically kurt playing a new riff and mumbling nonsense and the song would build from there. To say that the foo fighter’s discography, which is 30 years old by now was came up by someone who died in 1994 is a huge stretch.
