I agree that bates reels are world class Jimbo!! I own two hundo reels and an og. All of them were bought on pre-order so I had the hundos for about 2 years and the og for a year. They are super smooth, everything is solid and tight, and they have less plastic parts than any reel made today. They are also small for their 100 reel size and very light for aluminum reels.They will cast bfs weights down to 1/16 oz quite well even though it's not their intended purpose. Waiting for an OG lts to come out. I'm not a reel snob and own many shimano and Daiwa reels but bates feel tighter than even many of those. Give me a ring next time you head down to Florida and we will get on some oscars and peacocks!!

Right on! They changed their process to have certain things assembled over seas, but ppl making it like it's a big deal. Like apple iPhone... Engineered here in the US which means it's not like the typical stuff they see on Aliexpress. I will be down Florida more often than ever! Email me if you Wana further discuss fishing trips!

I wonder if this reel would be good at skipping like the daiwa tatula sv

I will say yes, but I rarely skip. I can try :)

I feel the dials are hard to read on the GOAT & HUNDO as well. The OG isn’t my style, but it’s certainly another beautiful reel from Bates. I’m looking forward to your on the water review.
@rawrfishingАй бұрын
Yeah it's hard to read. But once dialed in, I don't really move it much. So that's a plus about their braking mech. I prefer the Hundo profile as well. But let's give it a go!

From what I understand, Longzee MAKES the Bates reels in their factory - they just slap the Bates logo on them. Considering that Bates probably sells a very small number of reels compared to Longzee, I doubt that Longzee would use lower-quality CNC machines - maybe the quality control is better, though.

@@berniepechlaner5809 it's what I was told. Feel free to believe it from Jimbo or what ever source u got it from! Tight lines

I thought bates was a made in America reel? Why the premium if it's Chinese made?
@rhodesianhunter9360Ай бұрын
They machine the reel frame and side plates here and assemble it over there. I don’t know how that makes any sense, but they’re working on doing it all here. I’d be interested to know what machines they make them on though, I’m a machinist. Pretty much all modern cnc’s are far more capable than what’s needed. So really it’s all down to the tolerances the engineer required on the print.
@rawrfishingАй бұрын
Okay this is getting ridiculous... Ppl don't say squat about I phones... They are made in China.. Key take away here is regardless is that its American engineered like apple phones are! Bates uses many different sources for their parts, so not everything is made in USA. Yes they do their own cnc and then have it assembled in China! So far... In my experience, one who played with many reels in the world..bates is world class!

@rawrfishing it should be expected for the price tag, I just don't get to fish often enough to justify anything north of 200ish. I'm glad life lets others play with nice stuff but I'm satisfied with what I can afford.
