@@mikeyoungblood1642 KG & Pierce both wanted & lobbied for Ray to come back & the Celtics offered Ray double what he was paid in Miami. Ray just couldn’t take playing w Rondo for another season, regardless of the $$. Plus, if Ray is anything, it’s practical. He knew they were coming to the ends of their careers & couldn’t carry a team like they had, since they were all in their late 30s. & He was right, in the end.

KG was incredibly famous when he was a high schooler. I think in some ways this stunted his growth as a man, he has displayed very childish behavior throughout his adult life. Human beings just aren't meant to get that kind of adulation and money and fame at a young age, virtually nobody comes away from that experience and becomes a fully actualized and mature adult.

I've always thought the straight outta high school way doesn't help you mature greatly but KG is not one of those that hasn't matured well. Compare the person you see on draft day or other interviews from that time to the person who you see after the Minnesota days. I think the childish behaviour you speak on generally comes from having the competitive "FU if you ain't on my team attitude" and that's just what worked for him. Even Doc Rivers said he was the culture setter on that Celtics teams, you can't do that successfully if you're childish, nor would you last 20 years in the league.

It's a good thing that they ended their beef (everyone except Rondo). It's funny how Rondo has been one of the main catalysts to keep the beef brewing, yet he went and signed with the rival LA Lakers some years later. Yeah, the Celtics/Lakers rivalry wasn't there at that time, but it's still a rival franchise.

not only did Ray go to the team the celtics were battling every year in the playoffs, but he even did so for less money than the celtics offered. just based on KG's recent podcast career, it's hard to believe he'd ever respect that. that move was permanently ending those relationships. the anger fades into apathy, but that's all that's left in the end. it is salt on the wound to play dumb about it even now, if he acknowledged it or tried to explain himself it might not seem as scummy

08' Celtics changed the NBA forever. Completely changed the way rosters were constructed going forward for better or worse. As crazy as it sounds now, back then people didn't think you could build a team that was so top-heavy.. teams of that era that won a lot of games were the Pistons, Pacers, Spurs of the world and there was more of an emphasis and the view was that great teams are great top to bottom. After 08' the NBA culture became about assembling "big 3s". It wasn't like that before

So, it was fake like a vegetarian squabble with no real protein substance. 🤔 Carbs , if you will that burn off and leave the petty guys light headed.☺️ Time heals all! But, it should surely be noted, the petty guys showed their true character. They can be perhaps be forgiven but their actions cannot be forgotten. It must have been a heavy burden to carry a huge ton bucket of crap on shoulders for some many years. Good for Allen to travel the high road and not let negative vibes bring him down.
