I’ve been looking at getting a pair specifically for the speakers while sitting at my desk at work. I’d love to have music or an audio book playing but still be able to hear what’s going on around me. Also, for anyone having the sliding down issue, if you can take them to an optometrist office and they can bend the frames behind your ears more so they don’t slide. 🙂 I used to work in an optometrist office and you can definitely get transitions for your prescription. 😁

I bought the Ray-Ban SMART glasses and decided to try them out by taking a call. I couldn’t stop laughing at the conversation, and people around me started staring at me like I’d lost my mind. They couldn’t see a phone or an earpiece, so it must have looked really strange. It was such a funny and surreal experience! 🤣

I love the way Skyler looks on you vs the original pair. Skyler is the one I’m thinking to get. Especially for walking so I can listen to music or a podcast without my ears being plugged. What other apps does it pair with?

The skyler definitely suite you much better, they look great on you. I was thinking of getting the way farer but I do have a long thin face so I would end up with the same problem, I just hope they come out with more frame styles but regardless ill be waiting for the next gen and hope they have an option for landscape recording. I do really like the idea of listening to music through them too cause as I get older the less I like having ear buds in or headphones on and you can still hear the world around you. I have the Wayfarer large and it slips a bit. My Oakleys do that too. Nose pads easily fix it, but you can’t use on wayfarers because it blocks charge port in case. I have mine as prescription progressive transitions and they are fantastic. Meta event is coming up shortly and I expect new features to be released then.

There are nose pad stickers that you can stick on glasses so they wont slip so much. Or another option is you can use a hook and attach on the arms of the glasses.

I tried the nose pads but they didn’t work as the glasses were just too wide. Happy with the Skyler ones though, they’re a great fit.

Nice! Love my Wayfarer's but the Skyler's look better on you. I think the Wayfarer's usually look better on men and the Skyler's look better on women, but lots of people may be new to Ray-Ban glasses and not familiar with the different models. Good choice!

Great vid. I have a pair of transition meta wayfarers and like you wear them more than I thought. The speakers are great too. I did use a VPN to change my location which enabled me to use the full Ai.

Have you compared the Skylar with the headliner? I tried on the headliner and it’s cute but they don’t have the Skyler in stock to try on, and this one looks more feminine?

I haven’t done a comparison video but I did try the Headliner, they looked a bit too gimmicky for me, I preferred the Skyler.

Maybe the camera lens could be moved to the center and also a privacy cap / cover should be included so people can tell the camera is definitely off.

Thanks for the video. This is cool tech! I looked at the Raybans as prescription glasses and unfortunately they were too big, (style wise), for my liking. If more styling options become available that I wouldn’t mind wearing (at least more often, if not all the time). This would be worth a look, as I like the idea. What is the sound bleed like on the speakers? Can others close to you hear what you are listening to?

Yeah they’re cool glasses. I’ve got a few other brands that I want to try out too. In terms of the sound, when the volume is above maybe about 55% then people can hear. At max volume people can definitely hear.

Did you have the larger frame Wayfair and then switched to the smaller frame Skylar? They come in two sizes.

I’m about to buy a pair, but hear all the negative reviews about the transitions not being as dark as the standard sunglasses. Do you experience this? For example if you are under a tree in the shade will the lenses remain dark? I guess there are pros and cons. That is you can wear transitions all day. It’s just I don’t think I will like the in between. I want it full dark outdoors and clear in doors. What is your experience?

It kind of varies depending on light levels. Sometimes, I notice a slight tint when indoors.

I bought them twice too - but only because I lost my first pair at Super Nintendo World and I was too slow to make a travel insurance claim 😿😂. I love them though. My first pair was the matte black with transitions, my new pair is the denim blue with blue lenses. Love them. I use them so much! I just wish it could shoot 16:9, or at a higher resolution so I could crop to that.

Interesting, thanks. Meta has some major issues with its products which are going to be hard to overcome. First, with the smart glasses. When I go shopping for reading glasses or sunnies, I try on all sorts of different ones in front of the mirror, trying to decide which ones are going to make me look really cool next time I am trying to chat up someone in a bar. But it seems like with the Meta glasses, I can choose this pair or that pair. Well, maybe there are a few more choices but you know what I mean. (Having said that, both those pairs look excellent on you and you are welcome to chat me up in any bar you like, so long as you don't mind the 50 year age gap). So, never mind the functionality, the lack of style choice is going to be an ongoing problem. Then when it comes to their VR headset, it is simply not that shareable, so unlike with a games console displayed on a TV, it is not easy to see what a great thing they are. So sales will always be inhibited. If it wasn't for that factor they would sell like phones. (I am using mine right now to type this, connected to my PC which is currently 50km across town).

I think the Ray-Ban Meta glasses would be better if there were two cameras, one on each corner. It could then do better with wide-screen and even 3D pictures and videos. I would also love to see the glasses add functionality and features like micro-LED projectors to provide a HUD-like overlay of information on the inside of the surface of lenses (see something like Even Realities G1). Maybe Samsung could make better smart glasses than Meta?

Great video, and awesome glasses, the Ray-Ban Metas are phenomenal, but aint NO way, ZERO, that im buying a second pair! That's what I AINT gonna do! That's how they get you, I'm not about to be GOT. They knew folks would buy the sunglasses version, its all in marketing.. That's why they have the clip-ons..

i think the issue of the camera placement, can be mitigated by your own orientation, as the wearer, in the environment you're in. By being at the center of the shot that you want to take. That way, even if you, the videographer/photographer/wearer are technically, "off to the side". If say, you're two or three steps to the left. Your footage, however, would be oriented correctly, as you'd prefer, in the middle, instead of the far right. But without compensating for that. You yourself are essentially ruining your own shot. Needless to say, there are ways to work around that. But the greatest flaw, as you've said... is that they don't shoot horizontally. Had they improved on this. I'd say, they'd been perfect, nevertheless. Side note: and i'm speculating here. But i'm sure Ray Ban, already has a future edition, with dual camera lenses, that can sync the footage from the cameras on both sides. That improvement on the hardware, would be the logical thing to do. They're most likely, just trying to milk the innovation for a little while. Being that they're the first to produce them commercially, at scale. And really, don't have a serious contender in the market place, at present.
