FYI- Hoagy Carmichael wrote the song in 1930 on the suggestion from a friend. After hearing Carmichael play the song, his buddy, Stuart Gorrell, wrote lyrics for it and Hoagy recorded it in September, 1930. It was the only lyric Gorrell ever wrote. Charles recorded his version in 1960 and it became synonymous with his career.

The first time I learned the story of how this became the Official song of Georgia I teared up. It is known that Ray Charles was addicted to drugs and was busted for it and his license to perform in Georgia was revoked after he was arrested. Years later the State forgave Ray and allowed him to play this song in the State House and it was unanimously voted to become the State song. All I can say is what a wonderful example of redemption, forgiveness and victory for this great artist.

It was 1962...I was 9 hears old...I heard I can't stop loving you for the first time in a suburb of São Paulo Brazil, I would hear it many times more in the next months...it was like musi from heaven. Thank you my neighbors, they were all grown ups, they loved that song, I didn't know any English but my soul loved that song. I heard again today, from You Tube over Bluetooth on my car's stereo. I live in Georgia now and I saw Ray Charles live at the Olympic Park in Atlanta. In 1962 I didn't know his name, I didn't understand the words but that music, that voice, that feeling was recorded in my soul. Humans, such potential, music, such a gift. Maybe there is hope for humanity. We are capable of such beauty but plagued buy lowly sentiments. Thank you Ray Charles for enriching my life. You are forever a part of me.

@@shotty2164 How could a nation so proud of its servicemen elect a blatant draft dodger to become Commander in Chief? Not only that, but you voted for the PoS who disrespected John McCain, and every other PoW who served the country. A red line you and so many other 'patriots' were so happy to ignore. I used to be a huge metal head, i then had the opportunity to play with Brubeck when i was younger (im a sax player), and my perspective changed. Im older now, and have a respect for all music. I love it all, it's not entirely about skill, how fast you can play and how much you know, its about what you feel when you play.
