This is Ray raw and unrehearsed, jamming as only these great jazz players can. The way Ray directs things is nothing short of miraculous. Watch bassist George Duvivier wonder what the song is as Ray plays an improvised intro, Ray calling out the changes, his changes, then when Georgia emerges, everything is alllll right! This is a rare treat - being in on an improvised performance by these masters of the art!

As I always say when I hear to the 70's, 80's and 90's, I was born 20 years too late. Nice one, thanx for sharing! I worked at Montreux Jazz Festival in 2001 and 2002. Incredible souvenirs!!

Dizzy Gillespie said one time he was playing with Ray Charles in the studio that Ray Charles plays so slow that he wanted to hit him upside his head with his horn I died laughing when he told me that

Ray is pretty annoyed by the rhythm section but still gets his message thru. master of slow tempos!
@danielm41142 жыл бұрын
I've never heard him so dissatisfied with a band's ability to keep time, which makes this a frustrating watch and listen. You're right about his mastery of slow tempo- pick a studio song he's done and the live version is almost always more emotionally resonant.

Yes But too Slow Tempos annoying the other because for a rythm section are unplayable, for a drum or a bass is a no sense, this concert is to improvised obviously with no organization, it would be a businnes operatio of some impresario of musical bussiness. The concert is full of error of the band,becauss it was obviously a Ray Charles Concert who gave an opportunity to work to other old players
