OMG I was right there in the front row! Ray is so talented, excellent teacher, and such a nice guy. A genuine good person.

It seems the student could have been helped with some more technical direction, like "add a little crescendo and phrasing on just the first note" or "add a hairpin of crescendo and decrescendo on just the first note and add a slight lift after the first note" instead of "you see how you said Ta or Ya".

Please, I would to make a master with you! Im an older “young” violinist LoL but really I would so much to share these feelings. Thought is not about “thinking the music” is “feeling the game”. I’m 53 maybe is not interesting to teach for someone older with a young soul. But I’m hopeful!!!

Hmmm....for some reason I am unaware of, so.e of this video is missing. The time on it says it should be over 2 hours, but when I tried to watch it, it says it is only about an hour and 20 minutes and began right in the middle of one of the students being helped by Ray, which means he already played and I missed it! Nnnnuts... does anyone know if there is a full version of the masterclass somewhere?..... update.. if anyone is having the same trouble, you can go and see the full masterclass on the Colburn School's channel!! Yay!🎉

Hmmm, I cant tell from the audio whether Ray Chen microphone is real sensitive with it being next to him or the other guy in black is playing in Mezzo-forte while Ray is playing Fortissimo?🤔

I love the masterclass! However…I’m not quite sure how to put this, but is it common for the audience to burst into laughter or clap for the master during demonstrations in a masterclass? I found it a little distracting. It is quite vulnerable for the performers to be on stage in front of many people, in a large hall and receiving criticism. Not to mention that they need to respond to what the master suggests immediately. It is stressful and takes so much courage… I really feel for them. Lets show some respect and support to them! That being said, great job to Ray and all the performers!

Ray certainly has charisma which draws in the audience but he has a knack for for getting his point across and engaging the performer. If you have watched any of the Benjamin Zander masterclasses he takes it to an even higher level !

First guy has good left hand technique but his right hand isn't as developed. I have the same issue but worst left hand technique so I would know 😅
