Thank you for posting. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t make it to this concert. Ray Chen and Mendelssohn and the Elbphi… the perfect combination for my taste. Therefore I really enjoyed your video. I’m so grateful!

Ray played with heart and soul. The best violinist in the world.
I would be surprised if that recording was authorized by the orchestra and the soloist.

He's an amazing player. I just wish he could express himself without dramatically changing the tempo all of the time. It seems he has gone from "taking a bit of time" to rewriting the music.

I wonder why Chen was standing way in front of the orchestra. Normally, the soloist would position themselves in the gap between the first desk and the conductor, which allows them to see the conductor with their peripheral vision, thus making it easy to follow each other without needing to completely look away. Here, it seems that Chen doesn't have adequate communication with the orchestra/conductor, as their timing was slightly off in certain spots. Then again, I don't have any experience playing as a soloist so I could be wrong.

Ray Chen is the only violinist who stands so far forward! I love it 😍not obscured by the conductor👍

yeah though I’ve realized he’s done this quite oftenly though before I heard when he was younger he would stand side to the conductor to be able to see him and his finger board st the same time😂.

He has many eye contact with the conductor and turned and seeing backwards
