I was lucky enough to have spent a fair bit of time with Ray and his wife when I worked as a musician on P&O Cruises and Ray was after dinner speaking. A brilliant, generous guy and great company. One day we sat in the sun In Valencia Spain at a Cafe Bar, drinking coffee (lager) and having Tapas...such a really nice man with no ego. I'm very lucky to have met him...I had a tear in my eye when I heard the news. God Bless Ray❤️.....from Gary a respectful United fan.

I get picked up at my door and to come on a cruise and get paid to talk about football. I will buy the drinks.’ He was very humble and loved what we did, he watched us play most nights he was there. Loved the man.

That was mainly because Liverpool was and is a very popular team. Don't get me wrong, Clemence was a superb goalkeeper. But for me Jennings and Shilton were better.

In the summer of 1983, I attended at Ray Clemence Keeper School, which took place just 8 km from our house, in Norway. It was one whole day of training, where he talked and showed us how to do things, how to behave in certain situations, giving us drills to work on etc.... it was a Dream come true!, for a a young and upcoming goal keeper, to be trained by your Hero🙏⚽️ remember it like it happened yesterday😊 RIP Sir😔

Ray Clemence and Shilton were the best. The only other Keeper I thought that was as Good as them was Pat Jennings of Nth Ireland,Spurs and Arsenal. 105 games for NI and over a 1000 in club football. Three true greats of the Game. RIP Ray Clemence a Liverpool great.🇬🇧

Rest in peace Ray .. an absolute legend of the game . Back in the late 70s my dad who was a massive red used to try to pursade me to choose them over the blues . He would take me to a few of the reds games and I was star struck with him in goal. A fantastic keeper who epitomised that great Liverpool side . Terry Mcdermotts nephew used to live 2 doors down from my house and once Terry .Ray .. King Kenny and Alan Kennedy came with him and we were playing football with them in the street. What a memorable thing to happen to anybody. You'll never be forgotten Ray ❤...from a toffees fan

For me arguably the BEST goalkeeper Liverpool ever produced. Athletic and extremely agile and very quick reflexes. A commanding stance inbetween the sticks and a towering of a man. Ray Clemence we salute you sir Y.N.W.A

Elisha Scott was highly thought of, but long before my time. Clem had just become first team keeper when I started following LFC. No one we've had since comes anywhere close. If he wasn't our alltime greatest, he was in the top two. Amazing that he missed less games in his entire Liverpool career than Allison missed last season. In my lifetime, Clem is in the top three greatest British keepers.

Clem was a great keeper, but he had much better players in front of him, that's why Grobellaar got away with it for so long... and don't try telling me Grobellaar was any good. He wasn't even the best on Merseyside.

I’m a Scot , but Ray Clemence was a fantastic goalkeeper and I still have a Panini sticker album from the late 70’s where he is on the cover when goalies wore gloves rest appeared to have no padding! I saw him at Troon in 2004 for the Open Championship - sharing his time with everyone - one of the games true gents and legends

Quite unknown in the rest of the world when he's the most decorated goalkeeper at European club competitions with three European Cup, three UEFAS and one Supercup and kept 460 clean sheets. Who talks about his achievements? Not many people, that's why I say that he's so underrated because he deserved much more recognition. That's why my comment makes so much sense and it's not ridiculous at all.

One of my favourite football memories is Ray Clemence's return to the Kop for the first time, as a Spurs player. A never to be forgotten rapturous ovation from the Kop. RIP Clem.

I was a goalkeeper all through the 70s at junior level and I worshiped Ray Clemence. I've still not seen a better keeper to this day....so elegant, rarely made an error, caught the ball rather than parry or punch....and that was in the days of muddy pitches and no gloves.

His arrival, along with Hughes, Keegan, Toshack, Neal and co...... when Bill “the messiah” shankly, build his 2nd team is the reason why LFC are one of the greatest teams in the world. I am 61 and Ray Clemence was and is my favorite Liverpool player. You had to be in the kop to see him command his area ans come and catch every ball to appreciate how good he was.

I was there... He was by a long way better than the keepers we've had since, but you should look up Pat Jennings. Played for Spurs and Arsenal during the same era. He WAS the best.

Been here before but had to come back. Watched Ray in the early 70s. When ever Liverpool came out if the tunnel onto the pitch and Ray went to his goal. Fans would bombard him with Wriggleys chewing gum. A great, great goalkeeper loved by all.

Legend. My dad took me to Ayresome park in 1978 to see Liverpool v Boro. I was about 8 years old stood in the Holgate end with our kid. I remeber being in awe at Ray and the whole Liverpool team. Great memories.

Was really saddened to hear the news of the passing of the Great Ray. As a very young lad in getting into football in early 1970s, Liverpool were one of the big teams & you knew every Liverpool player. Grateful to have seen RC a few times play against my beloved Pompey. God bless him.

I’m a blue but when we were kids we used to go and see the reserves play because you got in free. We used to go right behind the goal and all of the kids used to take packets of wrigleys for Ray Clemence before he got into the first team. He was always fantastic with us. A great laugh and true gentleman. Rest In Peace Ray, i always loved the way he treated us and the rest of the bunch of scabby piss taking urchins behind the goal.

I saw him from when he was in the reserves right through to when he left for Spurs and he was the greatest keeper Liverpool have ever had. I've lost count of the number of times he made crucial saves that led to us winning a trophy. What a keeper, and what a man. As long as there's a Liverpool Football Club he'll never be forgotten.
