Did you ever think you were wasting part of your life, watching MTV every single evening? Well, now you know you didn't. This was special, it was unique, it was possibly the best live TV entertainment ever and it will never come back. No other show has ever been made or will ever be made in this great spirit. The chance to watch this was a gift and a blessing.

I thought I was the only one in which room MTV played on the screen 90% of the time I was at home, even while doing homework. And the night was incomplete without watching Most Wanted, and Beavis and Butthead next. Also audio taping lots of music, especially from MTV dAnce and Party Zone. I guess I had about 100 audio tapes recorded from MTV. If I had a VHS recorder at that time, of course I would have recorded the videos too.

Me too. I accept that things change but the 90s era of MTV Europe may have been some of the most genuinely entertaining television at the time.

I used to be hooked on MTV in the 90s. They didn't seem to have much prejudice about showing underground indie and dance music. Back in those days, if it was good and had a video to match, they'd show it. Not much can be said about that now tho. Mind you, music in the 90s was a fuck of a lot better than it is now.

I can only second that. If I knew how sentimental I would get watching MTV Most Wanted (or 90s era MTV in general) I would have taped many shows and skipped all the tv series that I now get on DVD. It is a disgrace to the MTV of the 90s what the MTV of today is showing (at least MTV Europe/Germany) To quote from Queen "Those were the days".... Thorsten

If I knew that in the 21st century MTV would be reduced to dumb reality shows I would have taped its 90s content as much as possible ;)

reading through many of the comments posted on clips about old MTV I realise its millions of us not happy about the state of it nowadays (btw, WHY is it still called MTV when they show all the crap, BUT music???) so we should sign a petition and send it to "I don't know who" because MTV is an absolute disgrace nowadays.
@mmalign542214 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to state, if MTV intended to degenerate or condition the young generation already in the 90s (at least not as depraved as nowadays), but no matter they had some great programs like 120 Minutes, Alternative Nation, Most Wanted, Headbanger's Ball and Unplugged, which is just unbelievable from a view of today. Perhaps MTV & co. created an own colourful ideal world that distracted from more important issues (e.g. Gulf War I + II, recession etc.), though it was nice to live in.
