Ray Cooper elevates the humble tambourine to the level of sublime art.

I had to visit this video because I just saw Elton John last night, which was a phenomenal show. Ray Cooper was on stage doing his percussionist magic and he was a blast to watch. He's 72 years old but was bouncing around like he was 27. He's a freaking madman but has stellar musicianship and a work ethic!

Whilst I was excited to see Elton again (after I first saw him at Knebworth in 1990), when I saw Ray on stage I couldn't contain myself! He was an absolute highlight of Knebworth, and he is still as energetic now as he was back then

@andrewsandoz80053 жыл бұрын
Greatest percussionist ever, really? You must not get out much? Much respect to Mr. Cooper but I think you'll find that Salsa and Afro-Cuban percussionists and congeros are among the best...or greatest ever as you claim. Lots of gimmicks and flash, that's why he is used by all those English groups, good for him.

@@andrewsandoz8005 with his range of instruments I think he is incredible. I'm not talking about rhythm and beat, just use of his massive array of instruments.

Indeed they don't. I was at Knebworth & he was one of the highlights. Saw him again four later at Royal Albert Hall with Elton John. Found myself watching him more than Elton. Great showman
