While the standards for making Rap music have arguably diminished, the needs and wants of the listener have also changed. While increasing profitability is an important KPI in an organization's measure of success, being able to deliver against the ever-changing needs and wants of the consumer is also extremely important. This evidences an effective engagement strategy that will support the long-term goal of sustained product consumption; thereby, achieving profitability. Ultimately, I believe that the new generation of Hip Hop artists has come to understand that authenticity is no longer lucrative for most and that following a proven model of success is a small sacrifice when the payoff is removing your family from abject poverty. Being a visionary doesn't always lead to an opportunity to increase earnings, profitability, and market share but maintaining a pulse on what the audience wants and creating products that deliver against these wants is what supports the drive to success.
