I've been watching a ton of japanese speedrunners and they all use Luring pod to keep it in the same area until it falls. I dont know if it's allowed per the TA rules though.

The fact that you don't have to pause in order to tenderize makes the flow of the combat feel more natural. Nice gameplay btw. Also it looks like the LS received the IG treatment, since the combos have different animations when the gauge is at red, also the foresight slash becomes a lot more flashy.

as a LS player from back in the Tri era, i find the increased technicality of LS showcased here an exciting challenge. i am also excited to see positional LS play making an important comeback-targeting “wounds” will require a certain amount of correct positioning knowledge from hunters, something that used to be much more impactful pre-counter skill availabity

I find it amusing that because of the low angle the Focus Strike is launched at; it is physically impossible to Focus Strike the tail unless Rey Dau tries slamming you with it (which makes it lower to the ground It's ironic because LS users are the tail-cutting experts and yet their FS can't hit the tail most of the time lol

Good stuff! Still a few "mistakes" to iron out like the weird hitboxes on the slope @7:50 and getting hit out of special sheathe that one time, you might be able to get this down to 9 minutes even. Longsword looks cooler than ever!

Rey fight was so cool I loved it the music great too. Actually I like Rey better then zinogre Literally fought all 4 large monsters with all the weapons during the beta. I’m a LS main but I killed quicker with switch axe then the heavy bow gun 7 min with Sa. 6 min with hbg 9 with LS

With foresight having no recovery animation in red gauge and iai spirit being the same as sunbreak we can omit helmbreaker entirely once a Goremagala level and speed monster appear.

Monsters are hardcoded to leave frequently to showcase more of the starting area. You can stop it by using Luring pods

@@xemtra It hit the very tip of the tail. The hitboxes in these past few gens of MH games are SUPER precise. Just look very closely, it absolutely connects.

@@RIP_ZYZZ1738it does not connect, it’s the wing that is closest but still way too far for it to connect. Slow down the video to 0.25x and you can see clearly. Popping wounds is also ridiculous, you just have to connect the first hit and all the flashy slashies just magically hit. Same for the follow up after spirit breaker, just wave the sword around and tornado slashies goes whoosh hitting like a blender. I’m not vibing with LS man.

You feel this the most with GS, shit feels like ur swing around a plastic sword and the sfx is like hitting nothing. World did GS perfectly with the impact and sfx. If they dont fix this in release, at least modders can.

It's about the same as world and rise without quick sheathe. Fundamental gameplay involving constant aggression using foresight slash on reaction and iai spirit slash on prediction remain the same. Now there are the new Crimson slash moves in red gauge but you'll be expending your red gauge after a helm breaker anyway and the moves are mostly just better versions of existing moves so longsword has stayed more or less the same compared to the drastic changes of most of the other weapons

Decimal numbers have to be turned on. Otherwise, normal numbers are the default.

I disagree. When the area is in Savannah mode, it looks quite vibrant. It’s just that the weather in this area is often dark. Plus, this is a desert locale. It’s not like wildspire waste in world was teeming with color either

there's no hitstop. I noticed it with other weapons too. It's like your slicing air. No resistance at all which is nice if you're going for speed. But the combat feels extremely lacking.
