I think that perfectly sums up the family dynamic. Ray and Robert get on each other's last nerve on a nearly daily basis. But if you insult either of them, then Brother, it's going down.

All you people praise Robert's badassery, which I totally agree with. But noticed what Jerry says here: 1:24 The fact he even invited Ray to his show, regardless if he hated him or not, proves Ray should have quite while he was ahead. Now, what he says when he reveals what he hates about Ray seems very surface level. Then it clicked, Jerry hates Ray's public persona but doesn't realize that is Ray being himself. Ray is so awkward as a person that he can't stand it when people hate him for seemly no reason. Sometimes Ray needs to be told something he doesn't want to hear.

Blood really is thicker than water. I’m an older brother myself and nobody but me gets to make my brother feel bad. If a complete stranger does that, I have my brothers back every time.

The first time I saw it, I was expecting Robert to make his usual jokes at Raymond's expense. Instead, he stood up for his little brother. It was both humiliating and gladdening to realize that, deep down, Robert had a much better personality than I did.

Well, Ray is dumb in this series when he wants to be. Plus, he really doesn't appreciate Robert after this. He just goes back and treats his older brother like a second-class citizen.

Ray: Hey, you know, thanks. Robert: Yeah, yeah. Ray: That guy called me dumb. Robert: You're not dumb, Raymond. Ray: I mean even if I am is that any reason to hate me? Robert: Of course not. There's so many better reasons. Ray: Yeah. Hey, by the way, that's not a pimple. That's an ingrown hair. Robert: Well, it's weird and it won't go away. Ray: I know.

Jerry only wanted to invite Ray on his show to make himself look good. Now regardless whether he hates him or not which is fine but don't start by inviting people on your show if you do not like the person. I'm so glad that Robert stood up for Raymond.

The internal logic of this scene doesn't hold up...how could Jerry Muso have asked Ray to be on his show (insist on it, in fact) if he truly despised him? Had Ray not pushed Muso about hating him even after he was offered the spot, then Muso would have had to contend with Ray's "dumbness" (and insecurity) in a context most important to him (his show). However, the exchange between the two guys is seamless, but the flawed premise lingers.
@victora.hernandez806215 күн бұрын
While Ray is not meant to be a sympathetic protagonist, the fact that Jerry Musso views his work as dumb and says he doesn’t have to be smart to have a career in journalism is so low.

@ Although Robert liked it that Ray is being hated by someone due to Ray’s belief that everyone has to like him, Robert did not like it that the reason Jerry Musso hated Ray is because he insulted his work and career as a famous sports writer.
