At its prime the International Race of Champions (IROC) was the only place you could have worldwide racing superstars share the same pavement in equally prepared cars. NASCAR drivers like Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip facing off against Formula One drivers like James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Any iconic racing driver of the 70s-90s drove one of these things. Ray Evernham once worked at IROC before starting his Hall of Fame NASCAR career. Nowadays Ray is on a mission to bring the worldwide phenomenon back to life, starting with preserving its rich history! He has been processing leads and tracking down these legendary machines all over the country to bring them back to their former glory. In our first video with Ray he showed us the collection but since then he has about doubled the car count, so we had to come back!

The first video we did with Ray he talked about how rare the Gen 3 Camaros were and how he’d love to find one someday. Fast forward a couple months and that video helped him get one that’s now being restored. We’re out to save history and this right here is proof that it’s working. I couldn’t be more excited to see these cars go to the proper homes. Ray has some great things on the horizon 💪🏻

I'm so glad that Ray has just about everything of IROC, I love it. I'm very happy he's bring IROC back. I always love going back and watching IROC races from the final years in the early 2000s when I was just a kid. I remember at some point near the end, during signing events across Downtown Indianapolis one year I got to stand next to Mark Martin's Crown Royal IROC car that was on display. I really can't wait for the grand return with multiple races and I really hope that's next year. Ray is the literally the greatest, he is 1000% Mr. IROC. I just really wish I didn't live over 500 miles away up here in Southwest Ohio cause I would really want to help Ray bring IROC back to it's glory bigger better and badass. Thank You Mitchell for makin all these videos, I've learned so much more about NASCAR then what I already did.

This video reminded me that as a teenager (1976), I had pictures above my beds' headboard of IROC cars, racing on, I think, a road course. At the time, I was in love with Camaros. I bought my first car, a 1974 LT Camaro with strips on the hood and deck, in 1978. My daughters grew up looking at pictures of that car, complaining about me selling it. At the time, me thinking that as a newly married man, I needed a more family man's car. For thirty years, I promised myself that I would one day put myself into another muscle car. My dream came true when my girls finished college, but they were shocked when in 2013 I didn't buy a Camaro but a new Challenger R/T. Three years later, I upgraded to a 2016 Scatpak R/T. For any of you guys who are raising a family and think those glory days are over, remember you are never too old to drive a hot car. P.S. I cherish a picture I took of my two girls when they were little sitting on the pit wall at Rockingham with the Rainbow Warriors along with Ray Evernham right after the pit crew competition. One day, if I am lucky, and at the right place, at the right time, I hope to get Ray to sign it.

My favorite memory of IROC was in the late 90's a True Value IROC car came to our local True Value in Wabash, IN. My dad and I was able to get up close when they were removing the tiedowns and driving it off the trailer to park it out in front of the store, along with a Brickyard 400 Pace Car. Funny sidebar a woman who worked at the front counter complained that it was "too quiet" in our little town. After that car showed up she didn't complain about the quietness. :D I defiantly would love to see a revival of the IROC series for sure.

I love that Ray is wanting to try and recreate iroc using the old bodied cars. Being a Mopar guy (and parents owning a 88 Shelby Daytona at the time) I was a Daytona Avenger IROC watcher for sure. For a long time I’ve said and dreamt and wanted someone to maybe make a series using the mid to late 80’s or early 90’s stock cars or IROC cars but not destroying the originals. I think with that and SRX we’d have a more grass roots, nostalgic, bringing back the soul of American motor racing I think that has been lost due to the big money the main racing series (NASCAR and Indy Car) have been transformed into due to the amounts of money invested and needed to compete. May just be my opinion but I feel the 80’s was the real pinnacle of the sport in America, and was also when it was the most enjoyable. 🤷‍♂️

I remember when Drivers didn't want to crash their car due to the risk of getting hurt. Back when drivers didn't have didn't have a back up car in their big rig and 5 more cars back at the shop. I remember when finishing well meant if you could race the next race or not. Last I remember when Stock car racers had more horse power than anything someone could buy off the show room floor at your local dealer. These are just some of the things I miss from the Good Old Boys and Good Old Days.

It's so cool that these old pieces are being saved. And by a true racer that cares about the history.

I have the biggest smile on my face right now watching this video. Back in 1986/87 I had the pleasure of working for Jay Signore and Ray Evernham at IROC. Of course it was cool to be around the drivers but the absolute best thing about that experience was learning from those two great gentlemen about character and work ethic and doing things the right way. It was an experience that molded a lot of who I am today and I am eternally grateful to them both along with Barbara (RIP) and all the great guys that worked there.

Absolute awesone video! Will never own one of those 2nd or 3rd gen Camaros but seeing being restored is close enough. I've posted before on seeing those 3rd gen body panels being sold at Englishtown swapmeet over 30 yrs ago and wonder if those who bought actually used them or just stored them. Hope more people with them reach out to Ray. I watched the IROC when it first started with the Porches but when they switched to Camaros my interest in building my own back then was a dream!

I remember watching these IROC races to see how each driver displayed his talents using identically prepared cars which in many ways leveled the playing field.

Another great video of American racing history. I saw Mark Donahue race as a young man and now at 75 would love to see the series get going again!

It would be a great alternative to NASCAR left turn racing. Best drivers in equal machines with equal HP.

Loved IROC and love Ray and what he is doing to bring a vintage IROC series to fruition. This would be an amazing series and Ray, you got to be a competitor as was Tony in SRX.

I really enjoyed the iroc series. As a teenager in the mid 1970’s iroc was my introduction to the drivers from European countries. It was an entertaining and enlightening series.

I loved the Iroc series so much that I bought a brand new 1989 Iroc Z and I still have It. It's parked in my garage next to my 2004 Intimidator SS SS Monte Carlo Carlo.

I love the videos you have been putting out the last couple years. So much interesting history. It would be neat if you could find a few drag racing teams with parts in the attic. I'm sure pro stock guys have some strange parts they've tested over the years. Thanks for sharing and keeping these old stories alive.

Yeah I really loved the 3rd Gen IROC race Camaros. That's why I built my car to look a lot like one. And why I'm building my street stock to look a lot like them. Just the best looking race cars ever. Norris Racing in Ramona CA makes all fiberglass panels for them. He even copied the hood to match the IROC series cars. Can't wait to see this red 19 car come together. Be awesome to see these cars back on the track.
