Ray’s an icon. Every summer as a kid, my ‘ol man ran a bus trip to Yankee Stadium, generally with the same crowd of rowdy Italian-Americans, and the bus had TVS. So, Goodfellas became a yearly staple (first on VHS, then DVD) on the bus and a crowd favorite. It was usually when the adults were just getting good and drunk and just before arriving to the stadium. They always loved the mailman in the oven scene, the restaurant/laughing scene, and Tommy and Henry coming home drunk to Karen and her parents house. I’ll never forget those trips

Yeah I remember seeing it in theaters too and I had no idea what to expect going into it. And that movie is the definition of something where going into it not knowing anything about it is the ONLY way to do it, one of those movies where the idea of "spoiler warning" became a thing. To have something like that ruined before seeing it would completely destroy the experience of seeing it. The ending is truly unique, even in the thriller genre where twist endings are the bread and butter of the entire genre.

I didn't see it in the theatre, but when it was new on TV, also didn't know anything about the ending. It was truly a surprise!
