A bit about Soyuz and his memory. Also, I’m not a biologist, so feel free to correct me. Apparently, scientists theorize that some very emotional events are also registered by the part of the brain that develops way before the hippocampus that is usually responsible for memory. So theoretically, if Soyuz was strongly emotionally affected by the memories of the island, which I think is reasonable, it is not a stretch that he would be able to remember these specific traumatizing events from his childhood. A thing that’s kind of parallel to that is the idea that the earlier you socialize your child, the better. It is generally a good thing to have a child’s basic social skills developed by the age of 4, even though as adults they likely won’t remember any of it. So, something registers and gets recorded after all

It's actually not true about 2.5 being the earliest you can remember. I know because I actually have a LOT of memories from way before I was two, even. I was able to *read* by the time I was around 2-3. I have real memories of learning to read with kids books, mom teaching me, being IN THE CRIB and trying to get mom and dad's attention (multiple times) because I was awake and (again more than once) because I had that eye crust so bad I couldn't open my eyes. I remember the warmth of the washcloth as mom gently rubbed it on my eyes. Hell, I have memories of DREAMS from when I was 1-2. I'm definitely not saying that most people do, or that many do. I know it's a weird anomaly. But I know, from personal experience, that the whole "kids don't remember from that age" or "kids aren't even really people at that age" just isn't true. Maybe for some people, but absolutely not for me.

this episode made me realize a plot hole that dr stone have and its been bugging me ever since so im gonna just rant it out here in the comments back in season 1 when byakuya and his crew landed on the island, they began to explore the place and saw an old man that was petrified. connie (the brunette girl with braids) even mentioned that there was a farm nearby where they saw the petrified old man when she volunteered to find food. so when ukyo said that the island was "inhabitant" is just wrong, there were people already even before byakuya and his crew landed there, i mean there was a literal farm. idk why i only realized this even though i already finished the manga 😭 next upcoming arcs are amazing btw so get ready anime-onlys, theyre about to ditch the whole building processing and instead focus on the beauty and ugliness of human wisdom as well as the overall plot

They explain it more in the manga. Byakuya lands on what is now treasure island, and he says it was largely uninhabited, with the sole man on the island likely being a recluse. This means that there was no way for the population of the island to increase until after the astronauts landed, meaning the statues seen by ginro were petrified AFTER the initial wave that hit everyone except the 6 from the soyuz.

i dont know if yall take recommendations, but all of you guys should watch Sweet Tooth. season 2 just came out and i think yall will like Big Man/Jepperd because he is literally the black version/american version of that big dude from Train to Busan (body built and strength wise). Sweet Tooth is set in a post-apocalyptic world where there are TWO "viruses"; one is a sickness (kind of like a zombie virus but without them turning into zombies when infected) and the other is a mutation where babies (at the same time that the virus appeared) are born half-human and half-animal. Some are more animal than human, but the story follows a boy (Gus) who is 50% human and 50% deer/animal. the show is just amazing and i hope you guys do watch it; it'll make you cry, laugh, angry, and happy!

One thing to remember about Dr. Stone is that the main cast has powers and abilities that are entirely possible but cranked up to the max and beyond. Counting seconds with no sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell? Entirely possible, but the longest recorded record was only a couple of weeks. 3000+ years is practically impossible, and the average human lifespan isn't the only excuse. Tsukasa's strength, Taiju's endurance, Kohaku's eyesight, Ukyo's hearing, Soyuz's memory. All are possible, but also taken to the max and beyond.

The petrification exemplifies something that irks me about this series: the characters feel more like plot devices than actual characters. While most of them remain with Senku, they're kinda shafted for newer characters. They exist for what they can do rather than who they are; any past or development is short and/or non-existant for them. For example, Nikki and Ukyo were significant hurdles in Tsukasa's armies, but now they don't really have any significant role other than their skills, and their characters are just now part of the larger crew.

Like with everything, the child anime logic has exceptions. There are people who for unknown reasons remember stuff when they were still in the womb, and were a few days/weeks/months old. My elder cousin is one of them. Of course as i said, exceptions so they could bw considered rare cases. Like 1 out of a million babies

There’s also the whole deal with why-man, and once more is revealed about him, you’ll see that there is a decent amount of content left. To keep the pacing reasonable, they go less in-depth on the building, as seen how the perseus was kind of breezed over
