It is always a great honor and privilege to listen to the great Ray Parker Jr. He is such a refined speaker; one with a polished intellect to go along. Why he is not teaching a course in Music Appreciation at Harvard University (or an elite HBCU) is baffling to me. I would gladly pay to hear his lecture on the music business or any related topic. Great post!

You guys don't know how valuable this info is. Thank god this and other info regarding the music business is out here on the internet for us to see. There is so much to learn from these stories whether they are from Prince, Chaka, Stevie or Ray. I love it. To learn about the minute details people took on their journeys is really special and a learning experience for us all. I like how he said the new generation learned from the older ones. Great stuff.

Well that’s true love with a pinch of jealousy,,lmao,, it’s great seeing both these guys, brings bk memories, if I played some Howard Hewitt ,Teddy P., or Luther I probably got lucky, and what got me about Ray P. Was when I found out he was behind that iconic guitar lick on Rufus & Chaka Khan, you got the love,,

Howard, I just subbed to your channel here. I'm a huge fan of yours, have been since your earliest years with Shalamar (in fact, both "For the Lover in You" & " Do Me, Baby" by Prince are tied for my all-time personal favorite slow jam songs! And, I have most of your CDs).... I reeeeeeallly enjoyed this interview (i'm going to be watching your interview with Micki Free next). Ray FLOORED me at minute marker 1:03:25 when he talks about how the music of the 90s was mostly angry ("Everbody was talkin' about 'kill yo momma/shoot the police'"). I mean, I laughed so hard I cried! This is exactly what both Steve Harvey and Jamie Foxx have talked about in their stand-up routines..... Anyhow, I love your channel here. Keep up the good work... And I look forward to seeing your future content. Dave
