absolutely. a pinnacle of record production by ANYONE and it marked his THIRD big hit of self writing and production. At three nobody is a fluke and i'm not even mentioning all the stuff he did as a session player , producer and writer for others. Also he gets nothing but props from me for figuring how to front vocal with limited pipes: he had to land on a persona and run with it.

On this day in 1982 {April 24th} Ray Parker, Jr. performed "The Other Woman" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at position #22 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, seven weeks later it would peak at #4 {for 2 weeks} and it spent twenty-one weeks on the Top 100... And on May 16th, 1982 it peaked at #2 {for 4 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart, the first week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "It's Gonna Take A Miracle" by Deniece Williams and for it's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks it was "Let It Whip" by the Dazz Band in the top spot... Between 1982 and 1987 the Detroit native, as a solo artist, had fourteen records on the Hot Soul Singles chart, six made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Ghostbusters", for two weeks in 1984... Besides "The Other Woman" and Ghostbusters"; his four other Top 10 records were "Let Me Go" {#3 in 1982}, "Bad Boy" {#6 in 1982}, "I Don't Think That Man Should Sleep Alone" {#5 in 1987}, and "Over You" with Natalie Cole {#10 in 1987}... Ray Erskine Parker Jr. will celebrate his 65th birthday in six days on May 1st, 2019...

Another great tune from the same album, "Street Love." GREAT bass line. Never saw the video for "Other Woman" (first time). Typical 80's cheesy, but still gotta love this stuff!👍👍🎵🎶🎸🎶

This was a huge hit and stations don’t play it anymore. I’m tired of something strange in my neighborhood. Thank God for streaming media.

BAM 💥 am I glad I rediscovered this song !!! I was watching some old VHS taped solid gold countdown show from 1982 , and they played this 🎉 man I used to love this back in the day , but you know when you’re 60 you start to forget some of this shit !!! doesn’t do you any good to be in love with the other woman by the way, been there done that

The Billy Paul song "Me and Mrs. Jones" had already been discussing infidelity back in 1972. This came out in 1982. It was hardly a new topic.

I love how early , sometimes pre MTV videos all had this spooky vibe , creepy cemetaries and stuff. Would lead up to Michael Jackson's Thriller? I loved this song back in the day, love it more today, cuz I'm the "other" woman, ha ha ha.
