Oh the joys of being a child and teen during the 1980’s! Riding my bike safely through the neighbourhood, countless kids to play with, everyday seemed sunny, days lazing about at the local pool with 2-stick popsicles which you could buy for 25 cents and listing to tunes like this one on the pool speakers. How come no one makes music like this anymore? Such simpler times.

great song. maybe timeless, as it's message will be forever relevant. But not AHEAD of it's time in my opinion. I was right inline with women beginning to ACCEPT/EMBRACE independence and the reversal of leadership roles in the black communities created by the absence of husbands and fathers by war drugs and incarceration. if it had be release in the 30's or 40's I'd say definitely ahead of its time. I went to school with his sister, niece, or cousin(can't remember) back at Northwestern in Detroit and met him when he picked her up some times. He was cool. Those were the days, when you played two/four square in the street, and faygo pop cost .75 cents and you had to have Bettermade chips. Those were the days wh0en you sat on your neighbors porch and chilled out. No kid got shot for going to the wrong house to pick up their siblings. You rode your bike, til it was time to watch the Crosy show as a family. 😊
